Message from the Principal
Dear Virginia Lake Families,
Valentine’s Day is right around the corner! Passing out Valentine’s Day cards has been a tradition and will be allowed this school year. If your child would like to participate, please have them create a Valentine’s Day card for every student in their classroom. Valentine’s Day cards may include small prizes, such as pencils, stickers, or other items sold in the standard kits. We are adhering to our District 15 Food Policy. Candy or other edible items may not be passed out with Valentine’s Day cards. Please be mindful of our guidelines when selecting the perfect Valentine’s Day cards for our students.
Busing information for our 3-Tier start times has been shared by our transportation department in an individual email to families. The new busing information will be available in Infinite Campus next week. The new times will go into effect on Wednesday, February 23rd. If you need assistance with finding your child’s new busing information, please contact our school office and we are happy to help you.
In February, we are going to “Share the Love” with our community. We will be hosting a food drive. Every item that is donated will earn your child a raffle ticket. Three lucky winners will become principal and assistant principal for the day! All students who remain major and minor free for the month of February will also receive a raffle ticket. Our food drive will be held from Monday, February 14th- Friday, February 25th. The donations will be given to the POC food bank.
Let's make it a great week!
With Kindest Regards,
Patti Van Winkle, Principal
Valentine's Day Volunteers
This year on Valentine’s Day schools can allow 1-2 room parents per room. Our wonderful PTA will coordinate parties in a bag for each classroom. Volunteers will be invited to help classroom teachers coordinate the activities during the party. Our room representatives will coordinate volunteers for each classroom. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact your child’s teacher.
We will follow the typical check-in process and provide a state ID/driver’s license and go through the RAPTOR process within the front office. Parents and visitors need to self-certify that they are COVID symptom and fever free. Per guidance, if you are a volunteer, you must either show proof of vaccination or a negative test to enter the building. Volunteers must follow the Executive Order and wear a mask in the building at all times. We thank you in advance for your cooperation. We are looking forward to celebrating with our parents again!
