How is biomass formed?"

Biomass is formed when plants and animals die. Then the dead animals are buried in dirt, sand, and sediments. Other types of biomass include garbage, wood, crops, landfill gas, and alcohol fuels. Biomass is used for fuel. Biomass can be used as a source of energy and it most often refers to plants or plante based materials, which are not used for food or feed and are specifically called lignocellulisic biomass.

Advantages & disadvantages

Advantages & disadvantages

Advantages- biomass is the energy which is the contained in plants and animals. This can include organic matter of all kinds. Biomass is renewable. When you use biomass you do not need to use fossil fuels.

Disadvantage- biomass is expensive. Biomass is harmful to the environment. Biomass requires a lot of land.

Biomass is found....

Biomass is most abundantly found in areas of dense forest. 40% of U.S. Corn is used for biofuels.

Biomass does harm the Earth.

Biomass harms the earth by deforestation. Deforestation is clearing Earths forest on a massive scale, often resulting in damage to quality of the land.
