Howdy, Lobos!
In light of our upcoming Jump Rope for Heart campaign, PSA is excited to introduce our Physical Education teacher, Coach Natalie Schafer. Coach Schafer has selected grades 2, 3, 4, and 5 to showcase their jump rope talent at our upcoming PTA meeting, Tuesday, February 20th at 6:00pm. We hope to see you all there!
This is Coach Schafer’s 4th year in the education profession and her 2nd year here with us at Prestwick. She graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Nutrition and a minor in Exercise Sport Science. Wreck ‘em Tech! Beyond her P.E. duties, Coach Schafer assisted Mrs. Hernandez, our band teacher, in creating the brand new, Pride Pack Jr. Pep Squad! This group has done a great job of showcasing our PSA school spirit at various football and basketball games.
One aspect that Coach Schafer loves about teaching P.E., is that it is geared towards having fun while also getting to exercise. “I want to show my students that exercising doesn’t have to be boring or difficult; exercise can also be fun!” Each year, Coach Schafer’s goal is to build positive attitudes toward physical activity that students will carry with them for the rest of their lives.
During the summer, Coach Schafer spends most of her time on the water, either driving jet skis, riding on a boat, or wakesurfing. During her free time, she also enjoys working out, watching college football, and spending time with her family and friends.
PSA is also happy to have Coach Schafer as part of our PSA family!

DECA State Competition
Forty Little Elm High School students have advanced to DECA state competition which is taking place in DFW this year after a four year absence. DECA, an association of marketing students, is an important part of the business education program in the Little Elm ISD. February 20-22 the Texas state DECA competition brings 4000 high school business students from all over the state to the Sheraton in downtown Dallas. One of the most important parts of the experience for these students is the feedback they get by presenting their business and marketing plans to adult judges with business experience. The actual judging part of the competition is the morning and/or afternoon of February 21.
As Little Elm and Dallas area business leaders we invite you to participate in growing future business leaders by volunteering to judge. If you are interested but want more information feel free to contact Rodger Hutley rhutley@leisd.ws our Marketing teacher who will be happy to provide more info. If you know you are willing to help you can sign up to volunteer here www.texasdeca.org/judge
