Learn * Connect * Serve
F2F Learners - Ready for Tuesday!
There are several things you will need to do prepare for Tuesday morning.
- Charge Chromebook fully on Monday evening,
- Sanitize it before putting it in your backpack, and pack the charger.
- Pack any Adkins library books in your backpack so they can be turned in on Tuesday.
- Don't forget to pack your mask and a water bottle (thank you for cleaning these items daily)
Arrival and Dismissal
In order to keep traffic patterns clear outside and hallway traffic inside to a minimum, we will implement a new set of procedures for arrival and dismissal this year. Thank you for your patience as we are working on keeping everyone safe. This year students will be arriving and dismissing out of the same doors. Please go back and review the specifics of our arrival and dismissal procedures from your teacher shared with you. Older children will go with their youngest sibling.
Biggest changes to note:
- Our Parking Lot will not be available for parents to park for arrival or dismissal. The walking option is only for those who live in the adjacent neighborhoods.
- If your child has an afternoon appointment, they must be picked up before 2:15pm.
- Picking up your child during the day? Please pull up to the front drive and stay in your car. Call the office at 940-369-1300 and we will deliver your child to you. Please make sure you have your driver's license with you.

- Clear desk dividers will be utilized, including lunch and snack times. In the cafeteria, students will be sitting in pods and able to visit with one another while being socially distanced.
Students will be provided hand sanitizer upon entry to classroom and periodically throughout the school day.
Students will wash hands upon return from outdoors, before eating, and following restroom breaks.

Attendance
Whether your child is a Face-to-Face (F2F) Learner or a Connected Learner (CL), we will be taking attendance during morning meeting time. Ideally, all students will be able to attend a synchronous morning meeting to be counted present. If a child is not present during the attendance marking window, there are other ways they can be counted present before the end of the school day.
Other ways your child can be counted present for the day include:
- Engaging in learning or discussions through Seesaw.
- Interacting with a teacher through phone or video conference.
- Uploading or completing an assignment in Seesaw.
If your child is counted absent during the day, but they engage in learning through one of the ways listed above at a later time in the day, their absence will be removed on the following day.
This could be the year your child has perfect attendance! If your child needs to stay home, they can turn into a remote learner for the day. Contact your teacher and they will provide more information.
If your child is absent for any reason, please send an email to adkinsnotes@dentonisd.org.
Cafeteria Procedures and Resources
If you plan to purchase breakfast and/or lunch for your child, you may choose to pay using the School Cafe app. When adding your student to the app, you will need to enter their school ID number. You may also pay with cash or a check made out to.....
Remote Connectivity
We look forward to welcoming your student to school, albeit remotely, on August 26th. As we prepare to work with your student(s) through our remote learning platforms we wanted to share some important information:
Your student should plan to login to Seesaw (PK-5) or Canvas (Secondary, grades 6-12) on the morning of August 26th. If your student does not know how to login to their learning platform (Seesaw or Canvas) we would encourage you to visit https://www.dentonisd.org/Page/102071 prior to the first day of school.
Your student will be able to access videos and lessons uploaded by their teachers to begin their learning for this school year.
Your student should plan to engage in the learning platform each day to review the lessons, videos and submit their assignments.
It is possible during the first eight days of remote learning that your student will be invited into a synchronous video call with their teacher; although it is not expected that your students will synchronously connect via video call throughout each day of the remote learning period, August 26 - September 11.
In the event that your student is unable to login to Seesaw or Canvas, they may reach out to their teacher via email for their assignments.
Teachers will keep the Seesaw platforms up to date with announcements and assignments. This is the best way to stay updated with your teacher.
A Parent Education Support Hotline is available to Denton ISD parents beginning Wednesday August 26 through September 4. The times will be 9 am until 7 pm. Parents may receive assistance on a variety of issues such as Canvas or Seesaw, log-in issues, attendance, transportation, meal service, safety protocol, etc. Keep this number handy for your use: 940-369-0545.
