Holly Academy News & Views
January 7, 2022
Happy New Year! As most of you know, this is my last year as Director of Holly Academy. While my retirement is bittersweet, I'm excited that the search for my successor is beginning! The Board of Directors has employed Michigan Leadership Institute to conduct a Superintendent/Director search. The Institute would like our families to fill out the following survey so they can create a candidate profile based on your feedback. The survey will be open for one week, closing on Friday, January 14th, https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/W65RCQG. The results will go directly to the Michigan Leadership Institute. All staff members and selected older students met, in-person, with Mr. Silveri from the Institute today. Thank you for assisting us to find our next HA school leader! It's great to be a Husky!
Dress down-support Oxford Feb.3
Holly Academy is honored to participate in a statewide initiative, sponsored by the MHSAA to support Oxford! We will have a dress-down day on Thursday, February 3rd. If students wear an Oxford Strong shirt or blue and yellow, they will be able to dress down! The Oxford Strong shirts only come in adult sizes, so most of our elementary students will not be able to wear the actual shirt. If your Husky does not wear the Oxford Strong shirt and they participate by wearing blue and yellow, please send in $1.00 to be donated for the memorial.
More than 80% of the T-shirts' cost — $16.20 of the $20 — will be donated, according to the MHSAA release. The general public can order T-shirts at supportoxfordstrong.com. Merchandise items include T-shirts, long-sleeve T-shirts, crewneck sweatshirts, and hoodies, with all profits going to Oxford. Individual orders will be charged sales tax and shipping fees.

Thank you for your support. Power of the Pack!
Happy New Year Huskies!! As we have gotten back into the swing of things this week, here is what you need to know that is up and coming!
SPELLING BEE: This is just a reminder that this year’s spelling bee will be on February 10th. If your student is in 3rd-8th grade, please encourage them to come to the main office to sign up.
NWEA TESTING: This begins the week of January 17th, 2022. Detailed information will be provided in next week’s newsletter.
END OF THE MARKING PERIOD: Second marking period ends next Friday, January 14th. As teachers continue to work hard to formatively and summatively assess student learning, please take a moment to look at your student’s grades in Skyward. Your encouragement to make sure they get their assignments turned in on time, and are properly preparing for tests, would greatly assist in all the hard work and time teachers are putting in for your student’s success. In addition, we know many of our HA students are doing a fabulous job, so your praise at home will assist in furthering the learning growth. Please be sure to communicate with your student’s teachers should you have any questions or concerns.
On a personal note, when I walked into rooms on Monday to welcome the students back, it was amazing to see how ready and eager they were to continue learning. They really know how to ‘Dare to be Remarkable.’

COVID Policy and Procedure for Holly Academy
As you know, the CDC and MDHHS have revised the quarantine guidelines for positive COVID cases and quarantines due to exposure to a positive case. We have decided to align HA's guidelines with the CDC's new guidelines for five-day quarantines. As we have 12 months of data to analyze under the previous protocol, if transmission heightens due to the new guidelines we will revert back to the ten-day quarantine for positive cases and exposures. We do not want to unduly keep our Huskies out of our learning environment, but student safety is paramount. Please read the revised guidelines below.
COVID Positive Cases
● Students who test positive for COVID will be required to quarantine for 5 days from
the onset of symptoms date
● On the 6th day, students may return to school as long as they are symptom-free
COVID Positive Cases in the Home
● Students who have a positive COVID case in the home will be required to quarantine for
5 days from the onset of symptoms date
● On the 6th day, students may return to school as long as they are symptom-free
● When it is reported a student is positive for COVID, administration will continue contact
tracing and contacting parents of exposed students
● Parents of students who are exposed to a positive COVID case in the classroom will
have the option to quarantine their student
● If the parent chooses to quarantine their student, the student will be required to quarantine for 5 days from the onset of the positive case’s symptoms

Kroger Community Rewards
The Kroger Family of Companies is committed to community engagement, positive social impact, and charitable giving at the national and local levels. Every community is unique, but our common goal is to partner with the neighborhoods we serve and help the people there live healthier lives.
One of the ways in which we do this is through our Kroger Community Rewards program. This program makes fundraising easy by donating to local organizations based on the shopping you do every day. Once you link your card to an organization, all you have to do is shop at Kroger and swipe your Shopper’s Card. Here’s how it works:
1. Create a digital account.
A digital account is needed to participate in Kroger Community Rewards. If you already have a digital account, simply link your Shopper’s Card to your account so that all transactions apply toward the organization you choose.
2. Link your Card to an organization.
Selecting the organization that you wish to support is as simple as updating the Kroger Community Rewards selection on your digital account.
1. Sign in to your digital account.
2. Search for your organization here.
3. Enter the name or NPO number of the organization you wish to support.
- Holly Academy PTO (Code: 91555)
4. Select the appropriate organization from the list and click “Save”.
Your selected organization will also display in the Kroger Community Rewards section of your account. If you need to review or revisit your organization, you can always do so under your Account details.
3. Your organization earns.
Any transactions moving forward using the Shopper’s Card number associated with your digital account will be applied to the program, at no added cost to you. Kroger donates annually to participating organizations based on your percentage of spending as it relates to the total spending associated with all participating Kroger Community Rewards organizations.
