Vogeltown School productions are always a highlight for our community and the kids. We always base our productions around our local area and local stories. Last production we performed 'The Legend of Paetoki' - a special rock in the Huatoki river and the name of our Senior team. This year we are doing our production around our IROCK values. It is going to be amazing and we are having it outside again! The title of this year's production is 'Te Kura o Huatoki - The Greatest School'. We have 2 performances - a dress rehearsal on Wednesday 7th December starting at 11.30am and the night performance on the same day at 6pm. If you can bring the kids in at 5.30pm to meet in their rooms (juniors will meet in the hall).
We are beginning to see the effects of Covid back in the school. It is increasing in the community too. As of this week our attendance at school has been 91%. This term's average is 89% - which is fantastic. However, if you do have a child with Covid symptoms, please give them a test and let us know if it is a positive result. Thanks whanau.
Lastly, a plea - as we begin our planning for 2023, we would love some voice from our community around our 'Strategic Plan for 2023 and beyond'. If you have 5 minutes, could you please give us some feedback under our 6 strategic areas in the Google Form below - we really appreciate the support. We will also have a whiteboard and some post its at the gates over the next 2 weeks to try and get some 'genuine' community feedback for how we operate at Vogeltown School.
Have an awesome weekend whanau! Spend some quality time with your awesome kids - they are all fantastic! There are only 9 school days left in the term!
Nga mihi nui Vogeltown whanau,
Mr O and the VS team

COHORT ENTRY 2023
Next year we begin 'Cohort Entry' for our new entrants. This is new to most schools and new to us. It fits in with our 'Better Start Literacy' programme we are doing with our junior tamariki.
So for 2023 and beyond, there are only 2 dates per term that new entrants can start school - these are:
ENROLMENTS FOR 2023
Enrolment at the school is governed by an enrolment scheme, details of which are available
from the school office.
Next year there will be two enrolment periods.
The first enrolment period runs from 1 February 2023 to 6 April 2023.
The second enrolment period runs from 24 April 2023 to 30 June 2023.
The Board has determined that 0 places are likely to be available for out of zone students
turning 5 in the first enrolment period. The Board will determine how many places are likely
to be available for out of zone students turning 5 for the second enrolment period by
16 December 2022. The exact number of places will depend on the number of enrolments
received from students who live within the school’s home zone.
For students seeking enrolment within the second enrolment period, the deadline for receipt
of out of zone places is Friday 3 February 2023. Application for enrolment for an out of
zone student is made by completing an out of zone application form (available from the
school office and off our school website). Applications can be sent via email to
office@vogeltown.school.nz or delivered directly to the school office.
Parents and whanau who live in the home zone and intend enrolling their child for 2023
should apply by 30th September 2022 to assist the school to plan effectively for the 2023
school year.
For the second enrolment period, if the number of out of zone applications exceeds the
number of places available, students will be selected by ballot in accordance with
instructions detailed in the enrolment scheme. If a ballot is required, it will be held on
Tuesday 7 February 2023.
Parents and whanau will be informed of the outcome of the ballot on Friday 10 February
2023.

The Weetbix TRYathlon is back! Thursday 30th March 2023. If you want to register your child/children and then join our school group, click on the link below and it will take you to our School Group. It is a fun day and an awesome event to be part of. We will have our Vogeltown gazebo at Ngamotu Beach as a base for our tamariki. The event usually sells out so get in early if you are keen as it will be very popular because we haven’t had it for a couple of years!

YEAR 5 AND 6 CAMP, 2023
Every 2 years, we hold a camp for all our Year 5 and 6 students. Our 2023 camp will be held from Wednesday 22 February to Friday 24 February at Vertical Horizon in Inglewood.
The cost of camp will be $155 per child. We are part of the Ministry of Education's donation scheme, but would still appreciate donations towards the cost of camp. We have loaded the camp fees onto Kindo so that families are able to spread the cost out over the coming months. Cash and EFTPOS payments will also be welcomed.
Our camp cannot function without parent support. If you would like to attend camp as a parent helper, you will need to complete a Police Vetting Form. These can be collected from the Senior Office. We also need to sight one form of photographic ID.
The camp forms went out last week to all Year 4 and 5 children - we have more forms at the office if your child did not receive one.
Regards
The Paetoki Team
MR O'S FRIENDLY REMINDERS
1) Please remember to contact the school office if your child is absent or going to be late. You can report absences via Skool Loop, text 021 753 680 or ph 06 753 6843. Please do not use Seesaw for student absences - these must come through the office.
2) Please do not park over driveways near the school - we are receiving feedback from some of our local community who are unable to get in and out of their houses due to cars blocking their driveways. Please be considerate of others, thanks whanau.
Thanks whanau
Stay safe and be kind to each other. Thank you for the ongoing support of Vogeltown School, we appreciate the community we live in.
On behalf of the Vogeltown team,
