Hooch Happenings
February 24, 2023
Todd's Tidbits
Hooch Community,
Congratulations goes out to the 21 students that were named semi-finalists for the Georgia Governor's Honors Program (GHP)!! These students will move on to the state level interviews on March 11th and we wish them all the best.
I know that you have received a couple of emails reminding you of the perception survey (currently we have had 6.7% of parents complete). And yes, here is another note to encourage you to take the Annual Parent Perception Survey that is open until March 10th. The survey is anonymous and confidential and should take about 15 minutes to complete.

Building Routines & Increase Engagement: MAKE TIME TO TALK ABOUT SCHOOL
Make time to talk with your child every day, so he or she knows that what goes on at school is important to you. When kids know parents are interested in their academic lives, they'll take school seriously as well. Because communication is a two-way street, the way you talk and listen to your child can influence how well your child listens and responds. It's important to listen carefully, make eye contact, and avoid multitasking while you chat. Be sure to ask questions that go beyond "yes" or "no" answers. Besides during family meals, good times to talk include car trips (though eye contact isn't needed here, of course), walking the dog, preparing meals, or standing in line at a store. High school years are still an important time for parents to be informed and supportive about their child's education. Help your child succeed in school: Build the Routine of good attendance because Showing up Matters for R.E.A.L.!!
We are pleased to announce and celebrate our 2023 Support Professional of the Year, Mrs. Sharon Albright and Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Jessica Ames!

Scheduling for the 2023-2024 School Year
We are coming to the close of the scheduling process for next year’s schedule! This week, the counselors finished meeting with each student through their English classes to review their course recommendations, and students were able to take home forms for academic placement changes/waivers, online course requests, and Senior Course Reduction. Earlier this afternoon, a Naviance email blast was sent out to parents/guardians of all current 9th-11th graders sharing final steps in the registration process and additional details. Please be sure to check your email for this message!
The Administration will soon begin the steps of creating the 2023-2024 master schedule. Therefore, March 3rd is the last day we will be able to accept any forms requesting changes to students’ course requests for next year. The next opportunity to request any changes will be in August at Information Day (date TBD). Schedule correction forms will be available at that time.
Dual Enrollment
Our final 2 Dual Enrollment help sessions will be next Tuesday, February 28th during all lunch periods in the Counseling Office, and Tuesday, March 21st during all lunch periods in the Media Center. Please encourage your students to stop by these sessions if they have questions about Dual Enrollment or need help. All information for Dual Enrollment can be found at https://ChattahoocheeDE.weebly.com, and students must complete the interest form linked on the website to be added to the Dual Enrollment Teams for their selected college. Please keep in mind that current Dual Enrollment students must also complete this process by the March 31st deadline.
