With semester one coming to a close, it seems like a good time to reflect on student’s successes, as well as, areas that need change. For most students, organization is crucial to their success. Being unorganized only increases a student’s chances of having zeros or lower grades, along with, impacting his or her self- esteem. The holidays might be a good opportunity to pull everything out the backpacks and binders and get a fresh start in the New Year!
Deadlines are fast approaching for college applications and scholarships. Student’s if you haven’t looked at the scholarship page lately, you may want to take a look. New scholarships are posted on the College and Career page as they are received. Applying for scholarships now can really pay-off, but students must submit complete applications and meet the deadlines to be considered.
There are still seven opportunities to take the SAT Test www.collegeboard.org, or the ACT Test www.actstudent.org this school year. Students can register for the test online and request Burleson High School to be their test site. A student’s ACT and/or SAT score plays an important role in college admissions. The College Board states that, “the score is a measure of the critical thinking skills students need for college success.” If you need help with registration, just stop by the house office. Here are the test dates available for the 2014-15 school year.
SAT TEST DATES - January 24th March 14th May 2nd & June 6th
ACT TEST DATES – February 7th April 18th & June 13th

"Fall Elk Team Tennis had one of the best Team Tennis seasons we have seen in years. With nail-biting victories over teams Burleson has not beaten in as much as seven years! After beating Cleburne and Crowley, tennis was in a tie for playoffs and was able to go to playoffs in tennis for the first time in five years! We are so proud of our tennis players and both coaches and kids are excited to see what spring individual tennis brings for the mighty Elks!" Coach Luster
