HAPPY SPRING
Spring typically signifies renewal or rebirth with nature coming to life and the Easter season. Spring also represents love, hope, youth, and growth--all very relatable themes to students in our classrooms and around school. The faculty and staff at CSH love to inspire and motivate our students to find hope in their educational growth as youth of today's world.
Cold Springs named school of excellence
Cold Springs High School is honored to receive the Cullman County School of Excellence designation and trophy presented by Dr. Shane Barnette. Although the 2019-2020 school year ended earlier than we wanted, that did not diminish the accomplishments we were able to achieve. The esteemed designation was a collective effort by our students, staff, community, and support from our central office. We are proud of our many accomplishments and excited to build upon them in the future.
This award is given to the top school in the district based on a number of factors. These factors include the following: highest ACT scores in the district, highest attendance rate of students, highest in athletic accomplishments, Blue Ribbon Lighthouse School, and teacher attendance.
We are so proud of our students for earning this award for the third time since its establishment. It is truly worthy of great excitement and applause.
Check out our new library!
The Cold Springs High School library provides services for the students, teachers, and our community. In the summer of 2020, the library was moved from the basement of the school to the upstairs, making its resources more accessible to students and teachers. The new library features both the traditional classroom setting in addition to a more collaborative and interactive space.
In addition to a wide variety of printed fiction and nonfiction books, we offer eBooks through our subscription to Overdrive. The library houses 25 Chromebooks and six laptops. We offer access to paper printing, and we now have a 3-D printer!
The Cold Springs High School Library strives to provide quality resources and current instructional technology. We hope to provide a welcoming environment that is conducive to individual and group learning. Our goal is to increase student achievement, foster literacy, and encourage lifelong learning.
Mrs. Kim Burleson is our Library Media Specialist, and we are thankful to have her.
cold springs fishing team for the win!
Cold Springs’ fishing team took home the top prize in the Alabama B.A.S.S. National High School Tournament at Lay Lake. They reeled in 31.88 pounds to win.
Andrew Weaver netted 16.23 pounds as a solo angler. Zachary Rooker and Dylan Smith (10.56) were 23rd overall followed by Zach Loyd and Jagger White (5.09) in 83rd.
“It was very exciting for the kids,” said Coach Todd Waters. “We always strive to do well, and they always practice hard. To see them come out on top, it’s a pretty big deal. It was a rewarding day," added Coach Waters.
The win qualified the Eagles for the state tournament, which is scheduled for June 4-5 at Logan Martin Lake. “It’s nice to have three of the four boats set for these next tournaments,” said Coach Waters. “To be able to qualify for state early in the season relieves some pressure.”
Congratulations, Fishing Team!
