Anoka-Hennepin is eyeing "All Things Google!"
Anoka-Hennepin is moving towards "all things Google!" Google Apps is now being promoted as the way to move documents, create spreadsheets, do presentations, and manage your classroom assignments! Their gmail option may replace Outlook in the near future. To learn more, ask me, Alice, or Melyssa. Stay tuned as we learn more about Google Apps and "all things Google!"
New Computer Lab Sign Out
The new system for signing out our Rum River Computer labs is going extremely well. Staff is finding that the new system is easier to view and navigate. A great tip is to pull the URL into your toolbar so you always have easy access. The link to the Google doc again is:

Sound System Tip
The district has seen a big increase in sound systems coming in for repair. Many systems are "well loved and used" and are showing wear. Please remember to plug the systems in with the arrows matching as this is a known problem for the batteries failing.
Google Classroom!
I love Google Classroom! Students get in using their AhApps accounts and staff can create and share out assignments with ease. If you want to know more about it, please stop by and see me. If their is enough interest, I will host a session in the morning to step you through it.
Fun With the Function Key! What Could Be Better!
Here's a great slideshow created by district Techie, Bruce DeWitt. It is called, "Fun With the Function Key" and it steps you through all sorts of shortcuts on a Chromebook. It IS actually fun and worth your time to take a look.
Important EveryDay Math News
Games on Everyday Math will not work in Chrome or on Chromebooks. Java and Shockwave do not work yet on Chromebooks or even in Chrome. You will need a different browser or computer to make them work. Be aware of this for EveryDay Math games whether the games are played here at school or at home.
Promethean Activ Inspire Tips and Tricks
Randy Edinger, district Technology facilitator, has offered to come to Rum River and hold an Advanced Promethean Tips and Tricks session. This is the same course and content he taught at Summer Institute. We are looking at some morning dates. Please let your grade-level Technology rep know if you would be interested in attending. He has done this successfully at other elementary schools, and is a great resource for all of us.
ActiVotes
Our ActiVotes are getting older and are well used. If you get a prompt to register the votes, please don't. Switch the profile off of ActiExpressions, and you will be good to go. If an ActiVote doesn't function properly, it could be a battery issue. Come see me and I will install new ones for you.
Promethean Pens
Please remember to store all Promethean pens with the tip up. This reduces the chances of misfunction. Of course, we can't do anything about throwing, stomping on, or ripping them in two by the darlings in your class. Alice will replace the pens the best we can.
Flame Out Tip on Promethean Boards
If your board is not working, check the flame! If there is not a flame on your board, do a restart of your computer. That generally solves the problem.
