Social Studies

I really enjoyed the African country presentations! There was so much creativity on display.

We are now studying a variety of concepts centered on Ancient Greece. I have developed a self-paced lesson on Google Classroom. Students are exploring the geography, government, mythology and the city-states of Athens and Sparta. Your child should be able to complete all of the work at school, I have reserved the computer lab for over a week. After Greece is Ancient Rome, with another technology centered project. Lastly, we will dive into the Middle Ages! Our Middle Ages lesson will tie in with Mrs. Grow's novels.

Language Arts

Wow! Where did the year go? We are finishing fourth quarter with novels that concentrate on the middle ages. Students will be doing five mini-projects due on May 20th. Plenty of class time is allowed for these projects, so you should not see too much of the work done at home. There will be a Language Arts final on Tuesday, May 17. Students have completed a review project, will have a fold-able, and a review packet to help them prepare. if students need extra help, I am available before school, at lunch, or after school with prior notification.

Thanks-you for entrusting your students with me this year; I have truly enjoyed the time!

Science

This year has gone extremely fast!! It has been a joy to have your child in my class! For this last month of the 2015-2016 school year, it will be jammed packed!

We are currently finishing up Genetics and Heredity, and preparing/taking our cumulative science final that covers all topics taught throughout the year. Students have been given a study guide to help prepare them for this test. It will count for 3x the normal grade, so it is extremely important to prepare and study for this test!!

As of May 9th, we will be starting the Human Sexuality Curriculum. So, if students chose to be in the alternative science class, schedules may change.

Important Dates:

5/4 & 5/5: Science Final

5/6: ALL MISSING WORK FOR SCIENCE IS DUE TODAY FOR CREDIT!!!

5/9: Human Sexuality Curriculum starts!

Math

This year has gone by quickly, thank you for entrusting your child's education to a first year seventh grade teacher. All math classes will begin working with volume and surface area of solids to finish out the year. We have one more session of STAR testing. Only two weeks of real academics to go. We can do this!!
