CARVER KUDOS
We are starting a new section in the Chronicle called, "Carver Kudos". We are looking to acknowledge those random acts of kindness and compassion that we know happen every day in our great school.
KUDOS TO...
- A special someone who is working beyond their retirement date, so that her students achieve success and continue to enjoy her sense of humor!
- Mrs. Machado who has been an incredible resource for our students on the Dragon Team this year. She is always available to answer questions and doesn't hesitate to assist students with schedules, classwork and attending class. Her support is invaluable! We are so fortunate to have her on our team!
- Darlene Aguiar for her work with the culinary program and its students by consistently providing academic as well as emotional support throughout term 2. Not the least of which were the snacks she brought the new teacher on the days he skipped breakfast!
- Ryan Melucci helping students by passing out wipes, so students can clean their desks. He also went out of way to help a student who was running late.
- The students in the GAP and ACE programs for working hard to pass their classes for the semester! And an Extra Shoutout to those students in the program who made the Honor Roll!!!
- Mrs. Bowie and Mr. Santos for all they have done to keep Carver athletes playing the games they love for the past several months. Due to COVID-19, they have had to make numerous phone calls to other districts, juggle schedules and do whatever they had to in order to make sure there were games for the students to participate in. Keep up the good work so Carver athletes can continue to participate in sports for the remainder of the school year.
One of the most hardest working students in her Algebra 1 class- Miss Brielly Bernier! Thanks, Bri, for always bringing your best self, working hard, and never giving up! - Mrs. Young.

Ms. Whalen’s Cohort A 8th grade Science class spent their last day building parachutes out of recycled materials and dropping them from the balcony in the lobby! The parachute with the longest hang time won an award for being the most safe.
Mr. Martin served as an unbiased judge to pick the winner of the “most unique” award!
Ms. Whalen’s Cohort A 7th grade Zoology class used two pieces of construction paper to construct a platform. The platform that could support the most weight won the prize!
❅❅❅❅❅❅❅❅❅❅❅❅❅❅❅❅❅❅❅
Students in the STEM Inquiry Lab classes raced their self-propelled, simple machines (aka cars.) They used a combination of recycled materials and craft supplies to fashion these machines powered by rubber bands and mousetraps. The awards for Cohort B went to Eliza Todd and Brigid McCarthy for the fastest cars to cross the finish line and to Finn Manning and Gavin Martin for the best use of recycled materials. In Cohort A the awards went to Kayleigh Friberg and Abdallah Daoud for the fastests cars and to Haley Kittredge and Julia Bellefeuille for the best use of recycled materials.

❅❅❅❅❅❅❅❅❅❅❅❅❅❅❅❅❅❅❅
The STEM classes also tested their engineering design skills while building catapults on the last day of semester 1. Students used materials such as rubber bands, binder clips, spoons and rulers to build catapults that could launch paper balls, pennies, or in Mrs. Waitner's case a LEGO Olaf, 3ft to hit a target. Jacob Clark was the only one to hit the target during the official competition to win a bonus point, but many others came close.

MOCK TRIAL
The Carver Mock Trial team has been working hard and long hours to get ready for our first competition this coming Tuesday against Newton South High. Just as our state courtrooms have had to adjust, so too will we, and this will be a trial over the Zoom platform. The faculty at CMHS has stepped up to help supply the devices so that we represent our school and town at the highest level possible. Our Mock Trial team says. "Thanks to you Carver Staff!" Thanks to our custodians too, as they have to disinfect the building for the cohort shift starting a few hours later than they normally would so that we can compete with school wifi and as a team from one location (even if we are in different rooms).
