SFISD Elementary
Home-School Digital Learning Connection
Week 4
Week of April 13-17
Dear Families:
Welcome to week 4 of digital learning! Please note that Friday, April 10th and Monday, April 13th are student/staff holidays.
Also, please note that hard copy pick up will be moved to Tuesday, April 14 due to the Easter holiday.
This page will serve as your Digital Learning Hub for Week 4, for the dates April 13-17.
This page will be used as a place where you can get to all the instructional activities designed for your child. We will continue to update the links in this Digital Learning Hub one week at a time as needed. Campus principals will continue to send out a weekly reminder with the link to the Digital Learning Hub.
If your child experiences any frustration, please feel free to have them get in touch with his or her teacher for additional help. For some of the reading components, links have been given so your child can listen to the text if he or she needs this extra support.
To support you in this time, you will also find links with resources to help you talk to your child about COVID-19 and to help ease their fears.
Please feel free to reach out to any of our staff members through e-mail if you have any questions or concerns along the way.
With Great Appreciation,
SFISD Elementary Staff

Practicing Mindfulness at Home
Being Mindful is a way for someone to be present and aware of what is going on in the moment. When we are mindful, we experience our life as we live it in the moment as it happens using our five senses. We recognize the thoughts we are having. We taste each bite of food we are eating. We actually stop and smell the roses! In doing so, we learn how our minds work, and we are better able to label the thoughts and feelings we are having, instead of allowing them to overpower us and dictate our behavior. Mindfulness is also good for our kids. Mindfulness has been shown to help our kids improve their abilities to pay attention, to calm down when they are upset and to make better decisions. Wow! When you are trying something new, it may be a skill you practice two or three times in a day. When you become a pro, it’s something you should aim to use at least once a day. It requires no special clothes, no membership dues, just you and your mind. For simple instructions, use this link to watch a video on how to breathe mindfully.
