A Message from Mrs. Thompson

Good afternoon,

I hope everyone had a wonderful week! I am excited to let you all know that we will be beginning a DreamBox school wide competition next week. If you are unaware of DreamBox, it is a personalized, math technology program that meets students where they are by creating an individual learning path for each student. As the student works through the program, it adjusts to meet each student's individual needs.

We will be recognizing the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place classes in each grade level who complete the most assignments by the end of the week. The winning classes will be announced on the morning announcements and they will also be recognized on a bulletin board in the main hallway. At the end of the month, the class in each grade level that completes the most assignments will win an extra recess!

Students have access to DreamBox through the SSO. If you would like for your child to work on math at home, DreamBox is a fun and excellent strategy to help them improve in their math skills. Please ask your child's teacher for login information, if you are interested.

Have a great weekend!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Thompson

Bush University Parent Survey

As mentioned in last week's Banner we would love your input on our future Bush University (Formerly Parent University) events. You can access the parent survey at this link: https://www.bushpto.com/surveyuniversity.

Attendance Information

To report an absence for your child, do one of the following:

  • Call the front office at 936-709-1600 and leave a message stating your child’s name, reason for the absence, person reporting the absence, and a phone number.
  • Email the registrar Mrs. Marney Roberts-Nield – mrobertsnield@conroeisd.net with your student’s absence information. When your child returns to school, a note explaining the absence should be brought to their teacher, front office, or the attendance office.

“Excused” or “Unexcused” Absence - What is the difference?

If your child is not in attendance in the building at 9:00am, the student is considered “absent”. There are two types of absences:

Excused Absence: an absence is considered "excused" when there is prior parental notification (phone call or email) explaining the absence, or a note from a parent or medical professional upon return to school. Absences can be excused if they are related to illness, medical appointment, a death in the family, or other health related reasons. An excused absence does not remove the absence from the student’s record, but it does document that a student is absent for an excusable reason

Unexcused Absence: an absence is considered “unexcused” when there is no prior parental notification, no note or email sent upon return explaining the absence, for family travel/vacation, or other absences not recognized as "excused" by the district or state.

Keep your Child's Information Current

If any of your phone numbers, email addresses or physical address has changed since the start of school, please contact the registrar, Mrs. Marney Roberts-Nield – mrobertsnield@conroeisd.net. An address change will need to have a Proof of Residency such as a utility bill (gas, water, electric); lease of buyer's agreement/contract.
