Texting and driving is a very large problem in todays society. Many people die from the dangers of this reckless driving issue. Teenagers and young drivers thinks its okay to be on there phone while driving. when you are on your phone, you are 23 times more likely to crash. If you text and drive you will hurt your self or others.
Stats about Texting and driving
- In 2011, 23% of all accidents involved cellphones.
- If you are driving at 55 mph and take your eyes off the road for the average amount of time it takes to text, five seconds, you will have zoomed the length of a football field without looking at the road.
- 34% of people admit to texting and driving.
Things You Can Do
there are some things you can do to help the issue, but still not enough. Try and encourage your states to pass laws about being on phones. As a parent you can install a drive cam, this is more of a extreme way of making sure your child is not texting while driving. use AT&T drive mode to resist any urge to check your phone. Encourage everyone in your family to take the "text-free driving pledge". lead by example and never be on your phone. The last but most effective is to make sure kids or even other adults realize the risk of texting and driving.
