The Board accepted the resignation of Board member Laura Reed at its October 18th meeting. With the acceptance of the resignation, the Board has 30 days to fill the vacant seat. If the Board does not fill the vacancy within this timeline, the Court of Common Pleas of Chester County may step in and appoint a new member.

The Board of School Directors of the Phoenixville Area School District is therefore seeking applicants to fill the open seat on the Board. The successful applicant will fill the remaining term, which runs through first Monday of December 2023.

To be qualified for School Board service, a person must be a citizen of Pennsylvania, be of good moral character, be at least 18 years of age and be a resident of the School District for at least one year.

Anyone who would like to be considered should submit a letter of interest to Superintendent, Alan Fegley. The letter of interest must be received by the Superintendent no later than 3:00 PM, Friday, November 5, 2021. Late submissions, including those sent by mail, but received after this date and time, will not be considered. Letters of interest will be accepted by FAX, e-mail or hard copy.

The Board will conduct public interviews on Monday, November 15. From those interviews nominations will be made at the November 15, 2021 Board Workshop meeting. A vote will be taken and the new Board Member will be sworn in and seated.

Again, members of the public are encouraged to send a letter of interest to Dr. Fegley by the deadline of Friday, November 5, 2021 at 3:00 PM.

The Phoenixville Area School District in partnership with the Phoenixville Area Hospital, Gateway Pharmacy, the Phoenixville Office of Emergency Management, and the Phoenixville Borough Mayor’s Office is preparing for the eventual approval by the Department of Health for the distribution of the COVID-19 vaccination to students who are from 5 to 12 years old.. This distribution would occur at your child’s home school. The anticipated timeframe will be early November and will be the Pfizer vaccine. Our goal is to make receiving the vaccination for this younger age group a comfortable and easy process.

If you are interested in having your child receive a COVID-19 vaccination, please complete the survey using the link below. Please know this is not a firm commitment at this time, it is simply for the Phoenixville Vaccination Team to get an idea of how many families might be interested.

Thank you.

Congratulations to the 56 new inductees to the PAHS National Honor Society!

The National Honor Society is a nationwide organization for high school students in the United States and outlying territories, which consists of many chapters in high schools. Selection is based on four criteria: scholarship, leadership, service, and character.

These students do an incredible amount of community service throughout the year, as well as serving as terrific role models for all students.
