Welcome Back!!!
This is the first Guidance Newsletter of the year! Our hope this year is to build a connection between counselor, student & parent to ensure all of us are working together to make sure the HS experience is the best it can be, and providing the best foundation for your student's future. Many important decisions are made in our offices, and we want to keep everyone in the loop as much as possible!
There have been some changes in our counseling department so make sure to check out our information below. We are looking forward to a wonderful 2016-2017 school year!!
Meet the NHS Counselors!
Michelle Clarke-Lower House Director, Sj-Z
I hope the transition in to a new school year is off to a great start for you and your family! I am the school counselor for 9th and 10th graders last names Sj-Z. Some of my services include helping your student with their schedule, creating a 4-year graduation plan, discovering career options and helping keep them organized and on track for a successful 4 years in HS! I am also here if your student is having concerns socially or emotionally, or if they just want to talk!!
A little information about myself..this is my first year as a School Counselor at Noblesville. This is my 14th year as an educator, I was a former PE/Health teacher in Lawrence Township. I started as a counselor at Craig MS and Belzer MS, and spent the last 4 years as a School Counselor at Hamilton Heights MS. This school year I am so excited to make the transition to Noblesville HS and to be a Miller!
I live in here Noblesville with my husband, Brian, who is the strength coach here at NHS, along with my 8 year old son, Jack, 5 yr. old daughter, Allie, and 2 year old son Kellan. My family keeps me busy and is absolutely my pride and joy! We are Millers through and through! You will see our crew at many athletic and community events sporting our Black & Gold! Again, I am so happy to have the opportunity to work with your students here at NHS. I have a passion for helping my students see their potential, and find their way through this crazy thing we call “life”!
If you would like to contact me, feel free shoot me an email or give me a call. You can also schedule an appointment here!
Glenda Bolton- 9th & 10th A-Fk
Lynn Davis- 9th & 10th Fl-L
My name is Lynn Davis and I am filling in for Mr. MacDonald. I grew up in Benton County where Fowler is the county seat. There is still to this day one high school in the entire county. It is a rural area where everyone grew up on a farm.
I recently retired from Brownsburg High School where I served as a School Counselor for 32 years. Prior to that, I was a Business teacher and Junior High Athletic Director at Western Boone Jr. Sr. High School. My alma maters include Benton Central High School, Ball State University, and Butler University.
My husband, Rick, is employed with M.H. Eby, sits on the school board at Western Boone Schools, and is a member of the Thorntown/Sugar Creek Fire Department. My son, Dalton, is a junior at Western Boone High School where he is an officer in the FFA group, participates on the livestock judging team, and is a varsity golfer. In 4-H, Dalton has participated in beef, swine and shooting sports for eight years. In my spare time I garden, serve as secretary for Xi Alpha – a service sorority, and participate in shooting sports. We also raise livestock, show Hereford cattle nationally, and do custom baling.
I look forward to working with the ninth and tenth grade students in Mr. MacDonald’s caseload!
Stephanie Stoffel- 9th & 10th M-Si
Carrie Lively- Upper House Director, Sj-Z
The excitement of a new school year is something I have looked forward to most of my life. I joined the Noblesville Schools family in 2013, and it was the best decision I could have made. This year, I am working with Juniors and Seniors with the last name that falls between “Sj” through “Z” in the alphabet. As the Director of Guidance, I am the contact person for most of the State testing, and oversee the J. Everett Light Career Center programming.
Prior to Noblesville High School. I have been a middle school English teacher at Greenfield Middle School, Director of Guidance at Tri-Central High School, and an Assistant Principal at Delta Middle School. Needless to say, I am passionate about working with kids...in any capacity. It is my mission to help students realize their potential, and the possibilities ahead of them. I want to help connect students to opportunities that will lead them into post-secondary options where they will find success in life.
As a high school guidance counselor, we tend to focus on academic and career preparation, but we also provide support and assistance for personal and social development. I am available to meet with students and parents, and welcome any and all questions and concerns. I see my role as a partnership with students and families. My goal is similar to that of a parent, I want my students to fully experience the opportunities that Noblesville High School has to offer, and realize their true potential in life.
Kristen Frank 11th & 12th A-Fk
The 2016-2017 school year marks the start of my sixth year at Noblesville High School, and I am excited to be working more directly with students this year. I want my students to graduate from NHS with as many opportunities as possible, and I will work tirelessly to support them in this pursuit. In addition to supporting students, I oversee College Application Boot Camp, Scholarships, Honor Night, and Work Keys.

Kristin Hetzel- 11th & 12th M-Si
My name is Kristin Hetzel, and this will be my third year as a guidance counselor at Noblesville High School. My current student case-load is 11th and 12th graders with last names beginning with the letters M-Si. My other responsibilities within the guidance office include: ACP Coordinator, College and Career Committee Co-Chair, Sophomore Industry Tour Co-Planner, NICE Job Fair Coordinator, and NCAA updates. Of course, the most important part of my job is helping students find success academically and personally and preparing them for life outside of high school. I enjoy having the opportunity to work with students every day to help them set and achieve their goals. My favorite part of this job has always been meeting with students.
Before working at Noblesville High School, I was a guidance counselor at Clinton Central Jr./Sr. High School, and I worked with students in grades 7-12. I have learned so much from both experiences and continue to learn new things every day at NHS. Outside of being a guidance counselor, I also am the coach of the junior varsity girl’s soccer team at NHS.

9 Things Every Parent with an Anxious Child Should Try
FAFSA Info!!
Here is how it impacts students and families:
- Parents of graduating high school seniors will be using their 2015 tax year data twice, for 2016-17 and 2017-18 school years. If you haven't already made adjustments to income and re-characterized assets for the 2015 tax year, you're stuck using what you have for 2015.
- Parents of rising high school seniors (current juniors) will need to be prepared to file their first FAFSA on or immediately after October 1st, 2016, in order to ensure eligibility for their greatest amount of financial aid. You also need to be aware that the 2015 tax year is the initial FAFSA base year, and you may need to make adjustments to income and asset characterization in an effort to increase the amount of aid you will be eligible for.
- Parents of rising high school juniors (current sophomores) will need to know that the 2016 tax year (the current calendar year) will be their initial FAFSA base year and that they may need to make adjustmens to income and re-characterizing assets in an effort to increase the amount of aid for which they may be eligible.
- Parents of rising high school sophomores (current freshman) will need to know that they need to consider making adjustments to income and re-characterizing assets in an effort to increase the amount of aid for which they may be eligible.
