Greenmeadows School 30th June 2022
Tēnā koutou kātoa,
What a fantastic turnout we had for our school's Matariki celebration. It is events like this that show the amazing community support and spirit we have here at GMS. We set out to raise funds towards the new playgrounds, as well as being environmentally aware. With a profit of more than $2000 and a mere one and a half rubbish bags at the end, along with heaps of recycling - we did it! Thanks to all concerned for a wonderful time.
The last few days of this term approach and we are building towards the parent interviews next Monday and Tuesday. Please remember the early finish to school on Monday and Tuesday when the children get to go home from 2.00pm.
The winter has started out being a bit of a challenge with lots of illness throughout the staff and students ... but we are coping very well considering. Hopefully the two weeks away from school will give us the opportunity to recharge and get over a lot of the coughs, colds and worse.
All the best for a restful safe two weeks holiday from next Friday.

WELCOME TO GREENMEADOWS SCHOOL
A very warm welcome to the new students who started with us this week. They are Tū Kaha Hereora, Mitchell Neverman and Maddison Grigg. Our roll is now at 460 pupils.

FAREWELL TO MRS LEAH HARONGA
Mrs Amy Tonks will take over in Room 7 next term. Amy has been in school visiting already, and it was wonderful to see her and her family at our Matariki night last week.
BOARD OF TRUSTEES MID-TERM ELECTIONS
Nominations for the upcoming election close on 6th September. We are an open and friendly board who meet two to three times each school term. The role of the Board is to set the school’s overall strategic direction. It is important the board members reflect the overall diversity of the school to ensure a bright future for all our students.
If you are thinking about becoming involved in our BOT now is the time to put your name forward. Under the new legislation we will be emailing out nomination forms this year. If there is only one email address held on our database, only one email with the nomination form will be received. If your email address is out of date or incorrect, please contact the school office to update it.
REMINDER - MIDYEAR PARENT INTERVIEWS - Monday 4 and Tuesday 5 July 2022
Next week are the parent teacher interviews for the whole school. There are still plenty of spaces left in the schedules to book a time. We already have 400 bookings - which is a great start!
Interviews will be held Monday 4 July 2.15 pm – 7.15 pm and Tuesday 5 July 2.15 pm – 6.30 pm
You can request an interview by using our online booking program:
Go to our school website www.gms.school.nz and click on the ‘Parent – Teacher Interviews 2022’ tab.
There you will see instructions to take you to the interview booking website, along with the necessary code for booking dates and times at our school (remember to use the school code which is k62zc)
Once your booking is completed you will receive an email confirming your interview. These details can be rescheduled if your availability changes.
Don't forget school will close early at 2.00pm on the afternoons of Monday 4th July and Tuesday 5th July.
NOTIFYING THE OFFICE OF YOUR CHILD'S ABSENCE
To report your child being away please use the school app. Find the absence button then use the email function.
The office staff spend a lot of time tracking down children each morning. If no contact has been made with the school, truancy will be informed.

I know plenty of you have made a start already ... fantastic!
Ice cream container lids, Soft drink bottle caps, Beer bottle caps, Milk bottle lids,
Wine bottle tops, Glass jar lids, Yoghurt container tops (not the soft peel back ones though).
