Message from Mr. Ulbrich
- Scheduling Process to begin: Over the next two weeks, all students need to be able to access their IC portal before the Scheduling Day on Feb. 3rd. We will get instruction sheets to you to hand out and have the students log on. If they can't log on, they will need to put in help tickets to reset their security preferences and it takes time for technology to resolve those issues. We are also in the final planning stages for a "Scheduling Day" where we will run an altered schedule so we can deliver the scheduling information to the students. Presentations could include; MYAP, Electives, PLWT Pathways, and AP/CCP. We will get this finalized by the first of next week.
- Just a quicker reminder to please make sure that you register for the PLSD Innovation Conference by the end of the day on January 16th.

- E/I groups should now be set in Infinite Campus. Let me know ASAP if additions or deletions need to be made to your roster. I truly appreciate your hard work in holding students accountable to this time. I am seeing amazing things happen to enrich and intervene with our students. Thanks again!
- The public is invited to discover the opportunities available in Pickerington Schools, as well as look at what lies ahead for the district at the 2017 State of the Schools and Celebration of Excellence Expo. The evening’s presentation will include a detailed overview of the permanent improvements issue that has been placed on the May 2 ballot.
The event will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, January 30, at the Pickerington High School North Performing Arts Center.
“Education is about opportunity,” said Superintendent Valerie Browning-Thompson. “The opportunity to learn. To grow. To succeed. It’s about the opportunity to make a difference in the world. With all the innovations and improvements we’ve made in Pickerington Schools in the past few years, as well as all the exciting things we have planned for the future, there is no more fitting theme than ‘opportunity’ for the 2017 State of the Schools and Celebration of Excellence Expo.”
The evening will begin at 6:30 p.m. with the third annual Celebration of Excellence Expo and community networking opportunity in PAC lobby. Every school in the district will exhibit innovative and exciting programs from their buildings. Displays will range from student leadership programs to arts initiatives, from science and technology to after-school programs.
At 7:15 p.m., Superintendent Valerie Browning-Thompson, Treasurer Ryan Jenkins, and Business Manager Vince Utterback will present the 2017 State of the Schools, a 60- minute presentation covering subjects ranging from the district’s financial outlook to academic initiatives and plans for the future. The presentation also will include an overview of the 3-mill permanent improvements levy that has been placed on the
May 2 ballot.
A question-and-answer session will follow the address.
The presentation will open and close with musical performances by the Pickerington High School Central Choir and Pickerington High School North Jazz BandFor those unable to attend in person, the district will stream the presentation live online.

Staff Member of the Week
This week’s staff member has been married for 31 years. She has 1, 16 year old child. This year marks her 20th year of teaching! Our staff member has also worked in business, real estate, marketing, hospitality and finance. If she were not an educator, she would own a restaurant/diner and make all the meals her mom made while she was growing up. Aside from necessities, one thing she would not be able to live without unfortunately would be her phone. As ruler of her own country, she would have no such thing as STRESS! At least bad stress, “one must not feel stressed, only happy and relaxed”! Her reading label would read “DO NOT FEED”! The most valuable lesson our staff member has learned is that “To forgive…. It sets you free”. This staff member would rather vacation in Hawaii “FOR SURE” because sun, sand, exotic and it smells awesome. If money were no object, she would play golf, Shop and cook all day. The craziest thing our staff member has ever done is a secret but she would probably do it again! Our staff member would explore the deepest parts of the ocean “The Oceans floor is the next frontier”.
Kim Pennycuff is our staff member of the week.
