Point View School
NEWSLETTER - Week 9, Term 4 - 15 December 2021
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
2021 has been a year of two halves. We certainly enjoyed the weeks we were learning together on-site. In Term 4 we have had a school in two halves with so many staying home. I feel that we have made the most of the situation and I am very proud of what our school community has achieved.
Our Senior Prizegiving and Graduation Ceremony went well. Applause echoed around the campus whilst those of us lucky enough to be in the Hall enjoyed honouring student achievement and marking this rite of passage for our Year 6 students. Many thanks to Robyn Hibberd and her team for the faultless planning of an event which kept the integrity of our ‘bubbles’ whilst remaining relevant for our students.
It was the last such event for Robyn who has decided to retire after 21 years at the school and a much longer career as a teacher. Robyn has played a major part in shaping this school having been on our staff since 1999. She has been a Board Member and a key school leader for most of that time. We will be thanking her for many years to come for the work she has done, the impact she has had on countless students and colleagues and the amazing legacy she will leave.
I am sure you will join me in wishing all the very best to other staff who are leaving.
Adele Vincer has been a Teacher Aide at PVS for 9 years. We are proud to see her move on to train as an early childhood teacher.
Biata Hilder has taught with great success in both the Middle and Junior Syndicates since she arrived from SA in 2018. She is now moving North to teach at a school in Huapai.
Our congratulations to Lara Kendall who takes up a DP post at Mellons Bay School from the start of next year. Lara has been a highly influential and effective leader in our school and across the Waipaparoa Kāhui Ako.
Hayley Foster is a teacher aide who has been with us for two years. She is moving to Christchurch.
Ali Yates is retiring to walk New Zealand and have adventures with her family. We thank her for the many years of service to the school as a teacher and also for a remarkable 21 years as a Waterwise instructor.
Sandy Walker, our treasured Business Manager is heading into a very well-earned retirement. Many of the school’s systems are a result of Sandy’s sharp business brain and excellent administrative skills.
It has been a great pleasure working with each of these staff members. On behalf of our school community, I thank them all for the outstanding contributions they have made to our school.
On Friday we will conduct a final assembly on Zoom. It will be a short affair, but we hope you find it entertaining. The link will come out for all to join at 9:00am. Look out for that.
To those students who are leaving, and to the families who are not returning, I wish you success and happiness in the future and hope that you remember our school as a friendly place where you will be welcomed if you come back for a visit.
Next term starts on Thursday 3rd February. We will be in touch before then to confirm all arrangements.
On behalf of the school, I wish all Point View Families a peaceful, safe, and joyous summer holiday season.
Robin Kirkham
Principal

A message from ezlunch/Kindo
If your family is moving to another school that does not use ezlunch or myKindo for school payments, you need to close your account once you have left Point View School.
If you’re not sure about the new school, log in to your account, go to 'My Details' and click on the list of schools, scrolling to find your new school. Note that one family account can manage students at multiple schools.
If your new school is NOT on the list, use the 'close account' button on that screen.
You can choose to donate your balance to school (where available) or have it paid out to your nominated bank account.
