1. Admiration

Hello everyone,

A few technical issues this weekend so please do accept my apologies for the belated HT Newsletter.

It was a relatively smooth week...that is until the government announced staff COVID testing to commence on Monday 25th January (without providing the full guidance, instructions...oh and testing kits). Thankfully, these arrived late afternoon on Wednesday. Yet again, the office staff has my admirations for organising the majority of this (risk assessment, facilitating the recording, and data collecting) and ensuring we can provide this service for staff should they wish to opt-in. This will mean that the staff participating in this will now test themselves every Sunday and Wednesday evening. It is not known what the implications of this will be but please do bear with us.

Last week, I made a plea with all for contacting the school, if you are having IT issues or require devices so your child/ren can access Google Classroom with ease. This offer still stands so please do let your child/ren's teacher (or the office team) know should you wish to borrow a Chromebook.

Have a safe week ahead everyone and please do continue to work with the school, positively, so we can do all that we can!

Mr. Francksen

Executive Headteacher

2. Phone calls from teachers

All teaching staff are phoning at-home families once a week. You might see that their call appears as ‘number withheld’ when your phone rings. If you receive a call that has ‘number withheld’ please be aware that it could be your child’s class teacher, and we’d encourage you to pick up so that you don’t miss out on this weekly contact. When they can, teachers will leave a voicemail message.

3. Pupils in school

Please have a change of clothing, wellies, and waterproofs available every day. Layers for warmth as lots of windows open and spending time outside.

4. Sandpit extension

Our sandpit has proved to be so popular that we’ve doubled it! Our handyman, Peter, has also made the end removable so that we can use it as a long jump pit.

5. Rowan Class - boxes of fun

The pupils of Rowan Class have been making use of all the packaging that’s coming in with our OPAL orders.

Sidney, Austin, and Amelia have built a house by the sea and a speedboat that also flies. Look at Sidney’s brilliant writing!

Joseph and Charlie have made a Spy Stone with lots of detailed buttons and shapes on it. They know what each of them does, but I think I might need to go on a course to find out.

Freddie and Stanley both created their own Bug Box. Stanley’s favourite bug just now is a ‘tarantula hawk wasp’ - that’s a lot of syllables for a 5yr old. Well done Stanley!

6. TTRockstars/Numbots

Last week, I announced the first TTRockstars house competition. I am ecstatic to confirm that the turn out was great and it was a very, very, very tight battle. The house scores can be viewed below. The winning house will receive 50 house points!!! 2nd place = 30, 3rd place = 20 and 4th place = 10. We'll also be awarding the top 3 pupils in their house, with a certificate of achievement.

Well done everyone!

I'm still waiting for my first challenge...so, who's brave enough to challenge Duff Case?

8. Raring2Go online magazine

'Raring to Go' have issued a bumper COVID special by providing information about things taking place across the county - as well as some ideas for activities at home. Click on the link below to read more...

9. ‘Lost’ wellies - please check at home

One of the pupils that are currently attending school has mislaid a pair of wellies, last seen at the end of the last term, which means they might have come home with a pupil that’s not currently in school. They really do need a pair in school with them, so please check at home and let the office staff know if you have them. We will then arrange for a socially distanced handover.

The brand is Warm Wellies and they are a green, size 5 so are most likely to be with someone in Oak Class.
