HAPPY NEW YEAR PENNGROVE FAMILY!
January is a busy time for us at Penngrove. We are right in the thick of school tours, enrollment for the 2019-20 school year and planning so many incredible student experiences. You'll catch a glimpse of just a few of those in this edition of the Penngrove Press.
If your new year's resolution is to make a difference in your community, I have some great news for you! We have 11 students who need a caring adult to devote one hour a week to them. 11 students who would benefit from having a mentor who will play games with them, read with them, talk with them, and maybe even share some life wisdom. 11 students who have been sitting on the Mentor Me wait list for way too long. If you are willing to make an impact in a big way with just one hour a week of your time, please email me! I'd love to talk. If you cannot give an hour but have a friend, relative, neighbor, retired family member, etc. who might be willing to do so, please give them my contact information.
Parent homework: ask your 1st - 6th grader about BEST rotations. "What are BEST rotations? How do they work? What did you learn?"
Wishing you all a wonderful rest of your week! Stay dry!
Amy

Schoolwide Acceptance & Inclusion Assembly
is coming up on Tuesday, 1/29! This special assembly will be led by Jessica and Larkin, mothers of two exceptional children who happen to have Down Syndrome. Read more about them in this March 2018 article from The Press Democrat. The duo will read a book and talk about the many differences and similarities kids can have. Students will participate in activities to gain a better understanding of what it’s like to have a disability. All students will receive an informational packet about what they learned during the assembly and activities.
Volunteers are needed to assist with the activities. The sign-up sheet is located here. Parents are encouraged to join us for the assembly to learn from these two amazing mothers!

The Children's Museum of Sonoma County is coming to Penngrove on January 14 and 15! Students in grades TK-4th grade will have a chance to experience all the fun of the museum as a part of their Museum-on-the Go program, with the focus being on forces and motion.
We would love to have a few parents from each class help out, engaging with kids and helping to make scientific discoveries and "Eureka!" moments happen for our inquisitive panthers. If you're free to help out, please sign up by clicking here.
A big thanks to Meghan Walton for organizing yet another amazing assembly for our students!
