Bolivar Buzz
December 2023
Happy December! It's nuts to believe that the holiday season is already upon is! This is a busy, but fun month at school and at home. Students will participate in Winter Clubs and Chorus concerts this month! This time of year brings wonderful opportunities to celebrate and honor traditions and perhaps make new ones! On December 22, Santa will be visiting classrooms and we will have a special concert with Bolivar students and the High School Select Choir.
While many teachers have classroom traditions, such as favorite books and activities, classrooms will also discuss and honor traditions of other cultures, which expands our student's knowledge, curiosity and understanding of others. The act of giving, whether a physical gift, or the gift of time or generosity, is also very important for our children to experience as they develop empathy. There are so many opportunities during the holiday season to learn about others, show gratitude and spread kindness. Here is a wonderful resource on Winter Holiday Resources to Promote Connection and Inclusion from commonsense.org.
May you all have a memorable holiday season!

Bolivar Bears Visit The Grand
On November 27th, four Bolivar Bear third graders joined Mrs. Biviano and went to The Grand to meet with residents. The spent time talking with residents and discussing what they would like for holiday gifts. Money earned from the Bolivar Bear Postal Service will go to making resident holiday wishes come true! It was a beautiful learning opportunity that had a large impact on everyone involved!
Bolivar Bear Postal Service
Our new Postal Service has been a big hit at Bolivar! Students, staff and family members are spreading kindness and love by purchasing and writing a letter to students and staff at school. Letters are delivered by Mrs. Shepard's class at the end of every day.
**All money raised will go towards granting holiday wishes for residents at The Grand. **
A Message from the School Nurse
A friendly reminder for Bolivar parents....
The New York State Department of Education requires a physical exam for new entrants and students in Elementary Grades Pre-K or K, 1 and 3. Please send a copy of your child's physical to the nurse.
Student Absences
It is New York State Educational Law that there must be a written excuse from the parent/guardian for each student absence. The Chittenango School District is required by the NYS Education Department to keep a written record of student absences.
Please provide a reason for each of your child’s absences, in writing. The district will accept messages from Parent Square, emails or written notes upon your child's return.
G.R.E.A.T. Night Out!
It truly was a G.R.E.A.T. Night Out! The Bolivar Road Wellness Committee and PTA hosted the G.R.E.A.T. (Goals, Respect, Exercise, Art, Teamwork) Character Education Art Wellness Night on November 30th! Many families and students came and participated in over a dozen activities that focused on art, mental and physical wellness, teamwork and kindness.
