October 2022 #KENNEDYBEST
Note from Mr. Rustad: It has been a great first month of school!
Kennedy Families,
The school year is off to a great start at Kennedy! The Cubs have been working hard over the past month. The transition from summer fun to the schedule of school is hard but our students have been up to the challenge. Over the course of the first month of school, students have been building relationships with their teachers and classmates, they have completed their first round of DIBELS district reading assessment, they have completed their first units in math and reading, and they have been earning Paw Slips for showing their Kennedy B.E.S.T.! It has been a great start to the year!
On top of the great learning that has been going on, we have had some fun things happening at Kennedy. The students have been busy fundraising for our school and we have raised over $5,000 so far! Our goal is $10,000. Another great thing happening at Kennedy is that the Cougar and Cub program is up and running again. Students from East come over and work with our Cubs and our teachers throughout the day. Additionally, we celebrated East Homecoming by having the Homecoming Court come and visit on Friday, October 7th, and then we held our first homecoming tailgate party that evening.
The 2022-2023 school year is off to a great start at Kennedy! We are so excited to continue making this year the B.E.S.T. ever for all of our Cubs!

SCHOOLWIDE TITLE 1 SERVICES AT KENNEDY
Kennedy is a schoolwide Title 1 School. In the past, Title 1 funds were available to
provide additional support to students who qualified based on their test scores. As a schoolwide Title 1 school we are now able to utilize those resources more flexibly to support any students that would benefit. This fits wonderfully with our small group instruction blocks when students receive acceleration or enrichment based on their specific needs. For further information, contact Steve Rustad, principal at Kennedy Elementary.
