Incoming Freshman Survey

Incoming Freshman and Parents,

It was great seeing so many of you at Curriculum night last week. As we mentioned, becoming actively involved in high school, outside of the school day, is important to us here at West. We feel the bond between students, peers, teachers, coaches, and ultimately the High School is greatly enhanced by such involvement.

At Parkway West High School, over 75% of our student body is involved in an activity, club, or sport. These activities, clubs, and sports are an extension of the classroom and provide valuable lessons for those involved.

Incoming Parkway West High School freshmen for the 2020-21 school year have the opportunity to request additional information from the sponsors and coaches by filling out the an interest survey by clicking at the bottom of this email. This survey is to be completed by the student.

The form will remain open from January 22, 2020 - Feb 2, 2020. All coaches and sponsors from the activities, clubs, and sports you are interested in will make initial contact with you via email by the middle of February to introduce themselves and provide any information that may be beneficial to you at this point. Thank you for taking the time to learn more about all of our Longhorn activities, clubs, and sports.

PRIVIT Instructions for Spring Athletes

Dear West High Activity Participants,

In an ongoing effort to simplify the pre-participation process for our students, parents, and coaches, our office is utilizing an automated paperless document collection source called Privit. The good news is that your account will only need to be updated with changes from year to year, not recreated. After parents/students have completed their Privit profile and uploaded their physical, students will still need to pick up a practice card (during the posted dates) prior to the first practice.

Returning Users:

Some families have already created a Privit profile for the past (2018-2019) school year. If that is the case you will need to log back in to your Privit profile to update your information for the 2019-2020 school year, upload (or restore from archives) a valid physical (Dated after July 1, 2018) and join the appropriate athletic team(s).

Important Note: The new start date for physicals will be July 1st for each 2 year cycle. For example, any physical dated after July 1st, 2018 will be good for all of the 2019-2020 school year (expires June 30, 2020). This means the vast majority of athletes who had a physical for the 2018-2019 school year would not need another physical for the 2019-2020 school year.

If your physical is dated on or after July 1, 2019 then it will be good through the 2020-2021 school year as well (expires June 30, 2021).

New Users:

If you are new to Privit you will need to log on to Privit and create your profile. In Privit, you will create the parent account, add your student(s) to the account, complete all sections, upload the annual physical signed by an appropriate medical provider clearing the athlete for participation, and finally join appropriate teams.

***To access more detailed information and specific instructions regarding the Privit website, go to and navigate to the Info and Documents section. There you will find a link titled, “Privit online instructions”.

For your convenience we have attached the Privit online instructions, Practice card pickup dates and times, and a blank physical form.

Thank you as always for being a partner in athletics.

Required Parent-Athlete Presentation

Dear Parent/Guardian,

Parkway Athletics has created an online presentation in order to convey what we feel is pertinent and essential information regarding procedures and policies from both the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) and the Parkway School District. It is required that at least one parent/guardian view the presentation prior to any athlete being allowed to participate in a contest. The presentation will be in lieu of our annual Athletic Department meeting. While we enjoyed the personal touch of our in person athletic department meeting, we felt we were only reaching ¼ of our athletic population by delivering the message in that format. Our coaches are still expected to hold a team meeting to discuss specifics relating to their individual programs. We hope you find the information in this presentation useful and helpful.

For families with multiple students and/or multiple sports, you will only need to complete the video once per academic year. Be sure to include all necessary info on the completion form after watching the video.

You can access the video by going to, then to INFO AND DOCUMENTS, click on Required Parent-Athlete Presentation.

After completing the video, navigate back to the Info and Documents page and click on the Parent/Athlete Online Signature Page. It will take you to a Google form where you will verify your completion of the presentation along with the name(s) of your athlete(s) and which sports they might be playing. Thank you in advance for your time in watching our presentation. We cannot wait to see everyone on campus.

As Always, Go Horns!!!

Summertime Dead Periods

Per MSHSAA, the summertime dead period is a period of defined length in which no contact takes place between school coaches/directors of MSHSAA-sponsored activities and students enrolled in the member school, or who will be enrolled in the member school during the next school year. Further, during the dead period school, facilities are not utilized by enrolled students in connection with any sport or activity governed by MSHSAA. The dead period is a “no school activities time”; no open gyms, competitions, practices, conditioning, weight training; no activity-related functions or fundraisers, camps, or clinics at school facilities or sponsored elsewhere by the school; no coaches/directors or students may have planned contact other than casual, normal community, non-activity contact. While there may be sports activities during this time, they must not involve the school coach, the school, or school facilities. The dead period shall be nine consecutive days in length, and must begin on a Saturday and last through the second following Sunday.

Activities Dead Period (cheerleading, poms, band): June 27 - July 5, 2020
Athletics Dead Period: August 1-9, 2020
First Day of Fall Sports: August 10, 2020
