1st and 2nd grade afternoon pick up

REMINDERS:

  • U turns are not allowed after picking up your student(s). This is not safe for our children walking. All cars need to proceed South on Mayfair.
  • Please do not wait in the line after picking up your 1st or 2nd graders, to wait for any older students. Cars should go through the line and park in a different spot for older students that may have a walker pass.
  • Please take the time over the break to help your child learn how to secure their safety belt themself. To expedite the pick up, please do not exit the car when picking up your 1st or 2nd grader.

Virtual School - Update

If you think you would like your child to become a virtual learner, please let Mrs. Heil know. bheil@divineprovidenceschool.org. She will inform your child's teacher and get you and your child ready to learn from home. Please remember that there is a 2 week minimum to be part of the virtual school.


As we have students in our virtual school and students moving in and out of the school, we need to remind parents of the expectations of your student at home.


* All students need to be on their Zoom with the camera ON at the correct time.

* Students should have a place to sit at a table or desk. Students should not be in bed. If they are sick, they should rest and not be on Zoom. Their teacher can request them to log off and come back on in an appropriate location

* Students should not be eating during their Zoom call

* Please allow you child to listen and interact with their class/ teacher and do not interrupt


Any student that is home sick or awaiting test results for themself or a sibling and NOT enrolled in the virtual school may have access to the Zooms classes, but they are still considered absent.

Holidays are quickly approaching!

We are quickly approaching Thanksgiving break which will take place from November 23 - 27. May you and your family have a blessed Thanksgiving! If you celebrate with people outside of your home, please keep the CDC guidelines and our protocols in mind! If you must travel to a hot spot state, your child(ren) must quarantine for two weeks before returning to school. Please let us know s your child(ren) may participate in our virtual school.


January 4-15 our school, as well as the entire system of Archdiocesan schools, will be in full remote. There will no in person learning. It is understood that some students may travel with their families over the Christmas break. It is strongly encouraged to plan any family travel over the two weeks of Christmas break. The following two weeks of remote learning are considered a quarantine time. School will be back in session on January 4th, but only virtually. We will not be able to offer any extended care for these two weeks. Please expect communication from your child's teacher as to what this will look like for your student.


Students in grades K-8 are expected to have 5 hours of instruction each day. This may take several forms. Every day, K-8 teachers will have synchronous instruction using the Zoom platform and asynchronous instruction which is work to be completed and turned in from home. There will be two check ins per day, which may be done in a variety of ways, but will confirm attendance for that day. All students will utilize a learning management system. For grades K-4 they will utilize Seesaw and grades 5-8 will continue to utilize their Google Classroom. Attendance is expected and will be tracked daily.


We will return to in person instruction on January 19, 2021.

Lunch forms applications were sent home last week. Even if you do not take hot lunch or think you would qualify, filling this out helps our school!

Travel Guidance

IMPORTANT - If anyone in your family tests for COVID-19

If you or a family member in your home is tested for COVID- regardless of the reason for the test- we must know about it and document it. Your child and all siblings in school should stay at home until you receive the result. If a family member is found positive, your child will need to be in quarantine. The quarantine would last 14 days providing the positive person is in isolation. If they break isolation, it is labeled a "complex quarantine" and students will need to be in isolation and quarantine. This is 24 days total. Final decision regarding how long a student must miss school is decided by the Archdiocesan nurse. Her decision is based on the information you provide to us. It is imperative that families be truthful in their position. Our goal is for our students to be learning and growing, whether it is in school or in our virtual school.


The reality is that children may be positive with the slightest of symptoms. Always keep our school in your communication.

Nominate a school hero!

We love our Catholic school employees. Teachers, principals and staff have worked tirelessly over the summer and this school year to bring quality in-person and remote learning to families during this unprecedented time.

To recognize the fantastic work our Catholic schools are doing, the Office of Catholic Schools is excited to announce the #SchoolHero program that will highlight the educators and staff who have gone above to ensure a safe and productive learning environment.

To complete this nomination form, you will need your nominee’s name, name of the school, professional title (if a teacher, the grade they teach) and why you’re nominating them for the #SuperHero program.

Calendar changes

We recently have made a few changes to our school calendar. This year, the responsibilities of teachers have drastically increased. The amount of planning time has decreased. For this reason, we are going to begin some early dismissals to allow teachers more time to effectively plan. Dismissal time will be 1:00. Students will have time to eat a snack at school but will not have lunch. Early dismissals will take place on the last Thursday of each month. After care will be available. Students going to after care may bring their own lunch to eat.
