Teacher Spotlight - Mrs. Jeannie Brodin, Kindergarten

I have been blessed with a wonderful husband and four amazing children. We have three sons and a daughter from ages 14 to 11 months.
Tell me about your education and experience?
I have a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with certifications from birth to 6th grade. I've taught a total of 12 years in Title 1 Reading, 3rd grade, kindergarten and even one year as a secondary English teacher.
What did you want to be when you were little?
I have always wanted to be a teacher. My mother says I went through many chalkboards growing up, teaching anyone and anything that would stop and listen long enough.
What are you good at doing?
I like to think I'm good at encouraging others to be their best.
What makes you happy?
I'm most happy when I know I am pleasing the Lord.
What is your favorite thing to do?
I LOVE spending time with my husband and kids, watching movies, playing outside, and traveling.
What is a favorite Linn Elementary memory?
I had been waiting a few years for a regular classroom and the day I was given a kindergarten positions was a very blessed day!
Teacher Spotlight - Mrs. Kelli Johnson, Kindergarten
Tell me about your family-
My family is very close. I have two younger brothers who are 21 and 30 years old. My parents divorced, but they both live around Jefferson City. I have a wonderful husband, who I have been married to for almost 10 years. We have 2 children. Rhett is a first grader at Linn Elementary and my daughter, Stella, is 15 months old.
Tell me about your education and experience?
What did you want to be when you were little?
I have always wanted to be a teacher, since I was in kindergarten. I wasn't sure what grade I wanted to teach until I did some substitute teaching in college. High school and middle school students are a challenging group, so I decided the "littles" were right fit for me!
What are you good at doing?
I am good at listening, drawing, and making people laugh.
What makes you happy?
The things in life that makes me the happiest are helping others, going to church and seeing kids succeed.
What is your favorite thing to do?
My favorite thing to do is spending time with my family. I love to play outside with my kids and watch my son perform his taekwondo skills.
What is a favorite Linn Elementary memory?
My favorite Linn Elementary memory was actually pretty hilarious! I was standing in front of the class teaching a math lesson when all of a sudden , a real bat flew across the classroom and made a beeline for my head! I had to almost do a backbend for it to miss whacking me, but the kids were all cracking up! I was scared to death! We have had quite a few bat sightings here, and I will be so glad to move into a new school! Haha!
Teacher Spotlight - Mrs. Danielle Wolfe, Kindergarten
Tell me about your family-
I have been married to my husband, Bradley Wolfe since December of 2007. We have two rowdy boys. Mason is four years old and Camden is two years old. These two boys keep us on our toes!
Tell me about your education and experience-
I went to Jefferson City High School and graduated in 2004. I then attended Lincoln University where I graduated in 2008 with a bachelors degree in Elementary Education and associates degree in Early Childhood.
What did you want to be when you were little?
When I was little wanted to be a vet. I always had a love for animals, just like my mom, and I wanted to help them. It was when I was 10 and we had to put our family dog asleep that I decided I could never be a vet, because I could not euthanize any animal! From then on, I wanted to be a nurse. When I was older, I was really interested in being a cancer nurse at Saint Jude's Hospital and came back knowing that I don't have the heart to do what they do there! So, then knowing that I wanted to help kids, I decided to become a teacher!
What are you good at doing?
I would like to think I am good at being a mom. It has been a dream of mine to be a mom for a long time. When I found out that I had infertility issues, I thought my dream was over, but with a special team of doctors, medicine and money (my dream) came true!!
What makes you happy?
My family and my job are what makes me the happiest! I love being able to watch my children and students grow! I love to be able to help my boys and all my students learn. It is always wonderful to see "the light" turn on when students learn something new!
What is your favorite thing to do?
My favorite thing to do is to take my boys down to the lake cabin and go swimming! I also love to read books, but who has time for that with kids!
What is a favorite Linn Elementary memory?
I have many Linn memories but, I have to say my fondest memory is being "volunteered" to be the group Christmas tree for our video. I was wrapped in tinsel and ornaments and then made to waddle across Highway 50! The embarrassing part was when my husband called me 5 minutes later and asked if that was me, because he was sitting in the line of traffic that we had stopped!
Teacher Spotlight - Mrs. Rebecca Blankenship
Tell me about your family-
I'm married to Jake Blankenship for 33 years. We have 2 daughters who are married and who are both teachers in Missouri. Jake pastors two churches in the Jefferson City area, which keeps us very busy.

What did you want to be when you were little?
I have always wanted to teach PE and coach basketball.
What are you good at doing?
I'm good at taking care of my family and being a team player.
What makes you happy?
I love spending time with my family. I love to see when my students grasp a concept during a game we are doing in PE.
What is your favorite thing to do?
Reading, taking walks, and game nights with my family.
What is a favorite Linn Elementary memory?
Having one of my students that was having a hard time grasping what PE was all about, begin to do the activities and have a smile on his face. He was having fun!
