Volunteers Help SLS Get Spanish Curriculum
That you to all of the staff, students, and parents who worked our SLS Classic Pizza Night and/or Fear Factory on behalf of St. Louis School. Through those two events we were able to raise enough funds to purchase a new Spanish curriculum for grades 3-8. Through a grant we were able to purchase the K-2 program last year. Mrs. Brooks liked it so much she asked if we could get it for the rest of the grades.
Thank you to all of the volunteers listed below. In addition, a big thank you goes to our PE Teacher Erin Trenkamp. She was the driving force behind SLS getting enough Fear Factory volunteers for us to qualify for the grant money. For her to do all of that for a colleague is the model of being kind and selfless. Thank you Erin and all of our volunteers!
Volunteers:
SLS Staff, Haley Geisen, Anna Moeller, Jersey Trenkamp, Jorge Garza, Deanna and David Hill, Cy Muckerheide, John Shrank, Kara Bischoff, Charlie and Rylie Gardner, Beth Steinkamp, Lilly Wonnell, Nathan, Santi, and Alejandra Schutte, Aubrey Baker.
Thank you,
Mr. Chad Moeller

Student GIves Back to Teachers and School
John Meer, a 7th grade student at St. Louis School, has found a way to use his passion and skill to give back to the teachers and school that he loves. He is a young man who recognizes the people who've helped him over the years and he's giving back the best way he can.
John is very mechanically inclined and he loves working with his hands. At school he spends any free time fixing pencil sharpeners, tightening loose desks, repairing a broken picture frames, or any other numerous tasks. At home John lives on a farm where he has gained much knowledge of tools and a tremendous work ethic. He uses that knowledge before school and occasionally during part of his recess, helping teachers with whatever needs repaired or just a quick turn of the screw.
When asked why he does this, John replied, "I enjoy helping people and I want to do something for my teachers. They have been very good to me for a long time." Second grade teacher Jan Narwold commented, "Sometimes I have nothing that needs fixed, so John will sit down and read with my students." John is a kind young man who is a role model for kids, as well as adults, for giving back to those who've helped you.
