SOAR Updates
10/13/2020
Student Activity Day Tomorrow (10/14/2020)!
All students are expected to attend this important and very meaningful activity based on our new social emotional learning (SEL) curriculum, Habitudes, created by Growing Leaders unless there is a conflict with a college class. If this is the case, students should notify their AVID teacher and plan to make up the activity as soon as possible. The activity will be posted on the SOAR STARS 2020-21 Google Classroom, as well as the Class Google Classrooms. We need full participation for this exciting launch of Habitudes!
Please note that we want students to utilize this student activity day as a way of not only focusing on this new initiative, but also on taking care of themselves to gear up for the upcoming quarter by using the other hours in the day to accomplish any of the following: rest, exercise, plan for the quarter, prepare for upcoming tasks, collaborate with peers, talk with mentor, catch up on reading, study/review new concepts, do something fun, be outdoors, etc.
Again, if you have any questions, please contact your AVID teacher for more information.

Class of 2021 - Senior Portraits
In the coming weeks, reminders will be sent to seniors (and their parents) who have not gone in for their sitting. You are under no obligation to purchase pictures; however, due to the pandemic, there is a sitting fee. If you have questions about that fee, please direct them to the photographer. If you have any concerns or issues about being able to complete your senior portrait before the deadline (10/16/2020) please email sjefferson@avhsd.org.
We Need Photos for Yearbook!
Yearbook is actively posting ideas for Yearbook photos in the Class Google Classrooms. Please take just a few minutes to ensure you're contributing to SOAR's memories by uploading your photos directly to this link: https://images.jostens.com/upload.jsp
Again, if you are curious about what types of photos Yearbooks is looking for, please refer to your Class Google Classroom, contact a representative from Yearbook, or contact Mrs. Jefferson (sjefferson@avhsd.org).

Daily meal service takes place from 11:00 to 1:00 Monday through Friday.

Attendance
Attendance has a direct correlation to student success. If you miss a high school class for an excusable reason, parents/guardians must call or email Mrs. Andrews to clear the absence: (661) 722-6509 / jandrews@avhsd.org and follow up with your teachers for assignments. Students should follow up directly with college instructors in the case of an absence. Although we are not on campus, we are still responsible for record keeping. Please make attending both your high school and college classes a priority!
