Principal's Perspective
It's hard to believe that November is right around the corner! With the nearing of the end of trimester 1, the start of parent teacher conferences is upon us. Our goal is to connect with 100% of our families so we can best support your child from home and school. Please be sure to find a time to meet with your child's teacher in the next few weeks!
Also, a big shoutout to our hospitality committee and the leads for Trunk or Treat. Our lunch on Wednesday was appreciated! Trunk or Treat was a WILD success and it was so much fun to see so many different costumes.
Lastly, please review the list of items for our Kindness Club's food drive. Donations are due by Monday, November 6th.
Thank you,
Mary Beth

Testing Tidbits:
Students in 2nd grade and kindergarten will be taking the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) Assessment this fall. CogAT will assess students’ abilities in reasoning and problem solving using verbal (picture, sentence), quantitative (number), and non-verbal (spatial) symbols. Kindergarten will test the week of October 30 (we will NOT be testing on Halloween or the day after). Second grade will test the week of November 6th.General information regarding your child’s performance will be sent home later in November.
A combination of scores from the CogAT (with a 96%ile minimum) and NWEA scores are used to determine high ability. If your child meets the qualification for high ability identification, you will receive notification along with your child’s testing results. If possible, please help us by not scheduling appointments during this time and by making sure that your child gets proper rest and eats a healthy breakfast. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Square 1 Art Fundraiser
Hello Families,
Your child should have received a catalog with free stickers of their art this week. You can keep the free stickers and order any items to be shipped to your home, with all orders needing to be placed by 11/10 to arrive before winter break.
If you did not get a catalog simply search for your child's art using the art search tool at: https://shop.square1art.com/Shop/artwork/search, and enter state, school name, and your student's name. Your student's art and code will appear, and you may order!
Parents can also upload additional art online if you want artwork for a child not at MGES or a different work of Art.
Thank you for supporting our school!

First Trimester Lunch Sign Ups!
For student safety and to accommodate our limited cafeteria seating, we are allowing our families to visit once a trimester. To be prepared for our guests and to check the Safe Visitor Registration of incoming visitors (this is required for every visitor) please make sure you register 24 hours in advance.
We allow 5 visitors per grade level lunch. Please use one slot per person signing up. Due to limited space, visitors will be sitting with their child(ren) at their classroom tables. You have the option of bringing in a home packed lunch or purchasing a lunch at school. No fast food will be allowed at this time. Lunch menus can be found here. The price of an adult lunch is $4.80.
Attendance
Please do this even if you let your child's classroom teacher know about the absence. This will ensure that our attendance secretary receives the information.
Dismissal Changes
If you have a dismissal change, please let the front office know by 1:00pm. This gives the office enough time to notify your child is where they’re supposed to be at the end of the day! Please DO NOT leave dismissal changes on the attendance line.
To notify the front office of a dismissal change, call (317) 896-4700, or email:
