Tiger Tales from Sanborn School
Last week of school edition!
Dear Sanborn Families,
It is hard to believe that we are saying goodbye to the 2021-2022 school year and hello to summer! This year has been filled with twists and turns, but in the end, your child has persevered throughout all of the challenges and has grown academically, physically, socially, and emotionally. Without your support, this would not be possible and we are grateful for your dedication to your child's learning and development. We appreciate the partnership between school and home and look forward to an exciting 2022-2023 school year!
We wish our sixth grade students good luck as they move on to junior high school. We can't wait to hear about all of their future success! We are also saying goodbye to a few retiring staff members: Mrs. Susan Esbrook, Mrs. Susana Guevara, and Mr. Paul Behen. Please read more about their careers below. We thank them for their many years of service and wish them a wonderful retirement!
On behalf of the entire Sanborn staff, thank you for a wonderful school year and best wishes for a safe and happy summer. If there is anything you need during the summer, please reach out to the school office at 847-963-7000. Sanborn will not be under any construction this summer and the school office will be open Monday-Thursdays throughout the summer.
Warmly,
Kate Arenberg, Principal
Sanborn's Retirees!
Congratulations to our three retirees: Paul Behen, Adapted PE Teacher, Susan Esbrook, 4th Grade Teacher, and Susana Guevara, Bilingual Special Education Program Assistant. Here is some information about Mr. Paul Behen:
Paul Behen

National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) certified teacher. He says: “As an itinerant adapted physical education teacher I've had the opportunity to work with students at EVERY school in the district at some point over the last 27 years - I very much appreciate all of the incredible people I've worked with. The INCREDIBLE STUDENTS that I've taught over the years = favorite part!” Upon retirement, Paul plans to upholster all of the pieces of furniture he’s accumulated over the last few years…and to conquer his 20th Chicago Marathon!

Moving 15 Forward
Dear GMS Parents/Guardians,
Thank you to those who were able to join us for the GMS & LS Moving 15 Forward meeting. For anyone who was not able to join us, we wanted to ensure you had all the information from the meeting as well.
The presentation and handouts from the May 19th meeting can all be found on the new Moving 15 Forward website. Please go to the website and in the drop-down under meetings, you will see school meetings, and our school listed.
The presentations provided an overview of the Moving 15 Forward plan with a particular focus on why this comprehensive plan provides all students enhanced and equitable educational opportunities and the chance to learn at near-neighborhood schools. The presentation also included information specific to our school and any adjustments that may be made. We gathered questions from the meeting and are uploading questions to the FAQ portion of the website.
If you have any questions, please reach out to me.
Many thanks,
Kate Arenberg, Principal
Muchas gracias,
Kate Arenberg, Principal
Safe2Help Illinois
"In the absence of a trusted adult, Safe2Help Illinois offers students a safe, confidential way in which to share information that might help prevent suicides, bullying, school violence or other threats to school safety. This program is not intended to suspend, expel, or punish students. Rather, the goal is to get students to 'Seek Help Before Harm.'”
"Safe2Help Illinois is a 24/7 program where students can use a free app, text/phone, website (Safe2HelpIllinois.com) and other social media platforms to report school safety issues in a confidential environment. Once vetted, the tips will immediately be shared with local school officials, mental health professionals and/or local law enforcement, depending on the nature of the tip. The program also will help local officials by connecting them with mental health resources or other appropriate resources to intervene and help students before they harm themselves or others."

Registration for the 22-23 School Year
Online student registration for the 2022-23 school year is now open. If you have not already started this process for your student(s), please visit our registration page to start this process.
Registration is the first step in getting ready for the upcoming school year. After you register your child online you need to:
Pay student fees. Our student fee webpage outlines the District’s student fee structure and the three ways fees can be paid.
If you have a student that is starting Kindergarten, entering fourth grade, or entering 7th grade, you are required to prove residency in District 15. Our residency webpage outlines the documents you will need to provide to prove residency.
All three steps of the enrollment process must be completed prior to the start of the school year. Students of families that, when required, do not prove residency, will not be able to attend class in a District 15 until the family’s residency is verified.
