HBP-Field Trip Form Needed
This year we will be doing an annual field trip release form. Please fill this out as soon as possible so students are able to participate in our field trips for Hillsboro Big Picture.
Este año haremos un formulario de autorización para excursiones anuales. Complete esto lo antes posible para que los estudiantes puedan participar en nuestras excursiones para Hillsboro Big Picture.
Cell Phones
Cell phones and other personal electronic devices such as headphones and earbuds are commonplace items in our daily lives. And while they do serve a useful purpose in certain circumstances and/or for certain students, in general they are disruptive to our learning environment.
Therefore, we are enacting tighter protocols and procedures for the times and places where cell phones and other personal electronic devices can and cannot be used. We are also detailing the consequences to students for violating these rules after first trying gentle reminders and redirection.
Students will be provided with guidelines specific to their classroom by each of their teachers. If there are questions about expectations for a certain class, students and/or their parents/guardians are encouraged to talk to teachers first. If additional information is needed, please speak to the principal.
We know this represents a bit of a change to past practice, but we all agree that limiting students’ access to cell phones and other personal electronic devices during the school day will not only enhance learning environments, but will also encourage students to build positive interpersonal relationships outside of social media.

Student Parking
Please know that student parking will be limited this year. We will not be offering student parking passes until the last week of September.

Class of 2025-PSAT Opportunity --Due September 15, 2023
We have the opportunity for 11th grade students to take the PSAT at Oak Street Campus. *The PSAT, which stands for “Preliminary SAT,” is essentially a trial run for the SAT. PSAT is NOT needed for college admissions. National Merit is a scholarship program that select colleges/universities recognize across the country, for more information click here:
https://www.nationalmerit.org/s/1758/interior.aspx?sid=1758&gid=2&pgid=424. This will be on October 18, 2023 you will need to plan all day for this test.
This form must be completed September 15, 2023.

Class of 2026-Pre ACT Opportunity--Due September 18, 2023
The PreACT test will be given to all sophomores on October 18th! The PreACT contains information designed to aid in discussions about college majors and career paths. This test gives a sense of how your student might score on the ACT based on where they currently stand and also get some ACT practice before taking the ACT.
