Message from the Principal
We have concluded our 3rd month of school, and I wanted to share some great news with you. So far, students have made a commitment to keep the school safe, as evidenced by our behavioral and attendance data. When students feel safe, they are more than likely to attend school. We have a ten percent increase in a student attending school at IKE and a significant reduction in students receiving suspension at Eisenhower. Only 3 percent have received a suspension (ISS or OSS).
I visited 41 classrooms this week to celebrate this success with students and share areas we can improve, as we can always get 1 percent better each day. Students are given a choice to decide on what Eisenhower can be; they meet those expectations and are eager learners who want to improve every day. We will continue to celebrate our students for their success. If students feel safe: then kids can learn at IKE.
Academically we have been celebrating student success on their assessments. Below are the upcoming assessments for classes and past assessments in November. Have conversations about past tests with your kids. These standards-based assessments determine what students should know or be able to do.

Drop Everything And Read 2022 (DEAR)
The purple permission form requires students to have all their teacher’s signatures as well as their parent signature. A signature acknowledges that the student is allowed to miss class that day.
Field trip forms will be available on our circulation desk in the library starting Monday, December 5.
The students will have one school week, Monday-Friday to have the field trip form signed and turned in. It is due by the end of the school day Friday, December 9.
Library Staff will look at the forms and choose 75 students to join us for the day. We will be choosing students that show interest in reading and would best enjoy a day of reading.
Thank you for your support in our IKE Celebration of Reading and DEAR.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Papenhausen & Mrs. Estabrook

Volunteer/Chaperone Opportunities and Process
Eisenhower Families - We are excited that with this new year we are able to open up the opportunity for you to become a volunteer or a chaperone at Eisenhower. To help you prepare to be more directly active in our community, we’d like to make you aware of the follow guidelines:
- To begin the process, please reach out to Eisenhower’s Volunteer Coordinator, Michelle Ferguson, at MFerguson@everettsd.org
- Please fill out the volunteer paperwork early. It can take several weeks for the application process to be completed and we don’t want you to have to wait.
- Family members who think they might become a field trip chaperone will need to go through the volunteer application process. Again, please do this as soon as possible so you’re able to help out without delay.
As a volunteer at Ike, you can:
- Help in classrooms (contact your students teacher to learn about what opportunities might be available).
- Help out in the library, nurse’s office, or on the playground.
- Work with small groups of students in reading, writing, or math.
- Help with field trips, parties or special events
- Supervise school dances
- Share your talents and experiences, interests or career in a classroom presentation or career fair or with a school club.
- Help with all-school events
- Become and art or science docent
- Help with the Everett Public Schools Foundation
