A word from Mrs Lawrence...
Dear Parents,
It has been a very strange two weeks, and I have been constantly surprised and impressed by the way our whole school community is working together to make the best of this difficult time.
The teachers are all well and we are trying to make sure that only a few of us come in each day with the children that need to be in. These children are also being brilliant. Their parents have very important jobs at the moment and so they have to be in school and despite knowing that all the other children are at home, they have come in each day with a smile on their faces.
Thank you to everyone who has shared photographs of their learning or things they have been doing at home. It is wonderful for the adults in school to see that you are safe and well.
This week sees the beginning of the Easter holidays. As a result of this, there will be no 'set' home learning set for over the holiday period. It has been a challenge for most to keep up with the learning at home, especially for those trying to work from home and with other family commitments. Let’s use this time to touch base with our families, catch up on chores or tasks from the last two weeks, and maybe spend a little time on the other educational websites if you feel at a loose end. I have attached a lovely time capsule activity that you could do as a family.
I wish you well for the next fortnight, and will be in touch later in the Easter holidays regarding arrangements for the forthcoming weeks.
Take care and stay safe

Staffing Update
It is with mixed emotions that I share with you the news that this week Mrs Humphrys was appointed as the permanent headteacher at Kellington Primary School. We are very pleased for her and very proud, she has been doing a brilliant job in the role so far. However, we are sad that she will not be returning to SMPS next academic year. I am sure you will join us as we wish Mrs Humphrys all the best for the future.
I also need to share with you that Mrs Jackson will also be leaving our team this week. Mrs Jackson started at SMPS in March 2017, as an Apprentice Teaching Assistant. In three short years, she has completed both a Teaching Assistant and a Higher Level Teaching Assistant qualifications. This academic year she has delivered PE lessons to all year groups, which has given her the confidence to apply for a full time HLTA role at Darrington Primary School. It has been a pleasure to watch Mrs Jackson grow and develop over her time at SMPS. We will miss her very much and wish her well in her new role.
