The Eagle Express

THE NEWS YOU NEED TO KNOW FOR THE WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 8-11

MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Greetings Eagles!

The first two weeks have already flown by! I'm pleased to see that everyone is adjusting to the school-routine and finding their niche.

I want to, first, recognize the openness and inclusiveness witnessed throughout our building. Akins High School is a place for everyone. We value and cherish the diversity that each student and faculty member brings to our campus - race, ethnicity, religion, economic status, sexual orientation, background, interests, beliefs, etc. I'm proud to be the Principal of a school with such a rich landscape.

As for school business - we are going to be implementing our Flexible Instructional Time (FIT) this week! You all have had a chance to speak with your advisers, navigate the FIT Portal in your AISD Cloud, and make a plan for the upcoming week. I want everyone to understand that this is a time to ensure your academic success. There is now no excuse for not seeking out extra help from any of your teachers, as it is a part of your daily schedule.

I hope you all have a great week. I, along with the rest of the admin team, will be visiting your classrooms frequently and look forward to seeing you!

Sincerely,

Brandi Hosack

Principal

SHOUT-OUTS

FOOTBALL WINS AGAIN!

Congratulations to the football team for their win over Reagan! It was a great game - great job players and coaching staff!

FOCUS ON YOUR FUTURE DAY

Amazing work of the College & Career Center, Ms. Simmons, and the entire FOYF staff for making our 1st annual Focus on Your Future Day an enormous success!

RESTORATIVE PRACTICES

We are seeing some amazing things come from our Restorative Practice work all around campus. The community and relationship building in classrooms is amazing to see, and I know it will pay dividends in the form of content knowledge. If you have a great story to share about your own experience with RP so far, please send it to me. If you'd like to know more, stop by and see our RP Coordinators in room 135.
