ELA Update
Week of March 6-10
This Week
This week students finished up projects on Tuck Everlasting. They were given the option to use an app called Thinklink or a website called My Simple Show. The main focus of this project was to summarize plot in a creative way. I've been really impressed with how hard the kids worked and how diligent they were in planning the details. Feel free to have your student show you their project at home!
I hate to even mutter the word, but STAAR is upon us. When students get back from Spring Break, students will not be doing STAAR passages every day by any means, but there will be weekly texts paired with STAAR-like questions. This will not be our curriculum focus, but it will reiterate what we are already covering in class. We will be studying informational and persuasive texts and working on skills such as text features, text structures, summary, main idea, author's purpose, and persuasive techniques.
Have a lovely Spring Break- full of fun, relaxation, and reading!
Tutoring
I will be sending home notes after Spring Break about opportunities for tutoring.
Book Fair
Be on the lookout for more info on the upcoming spring bookfair!
Benchmark Testing
6th graders will take their Reading Benchmark on April 11th.
