Mrs. Seeley's Weekly Stats

February 22-26

Valentine's Day Party

Kids are natural born question askers, they are constantly asking questions! Since they like to ask questions, now is the perfect time to introduce the Asking Questions reading strategy. Asking questions before, during, and after reading is really just getting your brain ready to understand what it is you are reading.

Phonics - This week we will also focus on the sound spellings for /au/, /aw/, /al/, /all/, /augh/, and /ough/.

We will be reviewing what good writing consists of in fiction and nonfiction pieces. Writing is a very difficult task for first grade. We are learning what make up good sentences, using capital letters and punctuation marks, as well as tying all of our sentences together. We will continue to work on this throughout the rest of the year!

We will be comparing two and three digit numbers using >,<, or = signs. We will also be ordering numbers by their value.

Please continue to use your flashcards to practice math facts to 10. The last set will come home this week.
