Curriculum Night! Start Right! Mark Your Calendars
Thursday, August 31 is Curriculum Night at Red Rocks and it is a great night of connections and getting our teamwork started off right. In the old days we called it a "mandatory parent meeting," but in 2023 we say, please come! We will begin promptly at 6:00pm with an address from Principal Isaac in the gym. Please make arrangements for childcare, as this is not a kid-friendly event. Parking: the back parking lot (through the gate) will be open for additional parking. Please DO NOT park on the east side of the driveway or Morrison pump station drive.
School Picture Day! Sept. 6!
You can order either by the form that went home in folders or online this year. Our vendor is Van Gogh. Our school code is 30014401 and to order, visit www.orders.vangoghco.com/prepay
Did you know? We have a commitment to strengths! Red Rocks staff and students build on a great foundation.
Clubs are starting! Red Rocks has a robust tradition with clubs, and we are grateful for PTA sponsorship of clubs! See below for times and availability. A reminder on our simpler safer practices, and thank you for ensuring clear transportation plans for club days.
Yes, we are still hiring! We have open positions for classroom paraprofessionals. Pass the word! Often our best staff come from families like you asking around.
Why do we do assessment this way? GROWTH. We don't only measure achievement, but we also measure how each student grows from fall to spring each year. Red Rocks digs deep into growth measures to ensure all students are making gains. We follow district and state measures. Want to know more? Come to our SAC meetings on the 2nd Tuesdays of the month or reach out.
Spotlight on student culture and Jeffco rules: Did you know some guest teachers say they only want to sub at Red Rocks? Yes, the kids and staff are often noted as modeling superior kindness. Even so, we are human, and our students break the rules. Each year Jeffco requires principals to cover the rules (aka conduct code) with all students. The slides from the classroom talks are here and the Jeffco Handbook as well as Red Rocks supplemental handbook are important documents to bookmark. Reach out to Mr. I with any questions, and thanks for sharing such great kids with us.
Whew! Traffic! It's Getting Better, If we follow these best practices:
- We always want to extend grace as we learn. We monitor the times families have to wait to arrive and dismiss. It is trending positively and we are looking at adjustments as we all learn this routine.
- We've heard some horn honks, and that isn't the usual Red Rocks way. "Come up the hill and chill" is our motto.
- If a bus is behind you: please pull to the right and let it pass. They need to get to their next school.
- We keep the "go" in 'Hug and Go'. Thanks for teaching little ones to exit efficiently.
- We pull all the way forward and then keep the line moving safely. If there's a gap, staff might direct you to pull around.
- Kids are ready to get out and adults keep the car running. Otherwise, we park and walk in for assistance.
- 7:35 AM drop helps our teachers prepare their lessons for the day, thanks for helping us.
- New staff are learning alongside us. They are experts, but worked in other schools last year.
Bus Rider Updates Heads Up!
- Buses are full. Students aren't allowed to arrange "friend rides" this year. Thanks for your understanding.
- S28 morning riders, feedback and conversation is in progress with transportation partners. The district is listening to feedback and we are grateful for the teamwork from our families.
Do teachers put sunscreen on students? Can you bring toys to school? Check out our handbook for answers to common questions. Have a question that isn't covered? Reach out. We are here to support you.

Track Team Starts on Monday! Permission Slips Attached
Attention all 3rd, 4th & 5th graders - come join the track team! Practice will be each Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 2:40-3:30 pm. The area Track Meet is scheduled for Tuesday, October 10th at the Jeffco Stadium. Questions? Contact Coach sandi.patterson@gmail.com — and yes, we would love parent volunteers to help. No track experience necessary. Click HERE for the registration link. Please print the attached Track Permisson Slip, which must be turned in during the first week of practice.
