From The Principal
Paris Ridge Families -
I am hopeful this message finds you well as you gear up for an extended weekend for students. As a reminder, students do not have school on Monday, January 17th. Staff will be at school engaged in district-wide professional development on this day, so students will return to school on Tuesday.
One aspect that we will be reviewing as a staff on Monday is the new elementary report card which is set to go live for parents to view at 4:00 pm on Friday, January 28th. The new report card has been updated to align with the Michigan state standards and our language arts and mathematics core programs. In addition, each grade level has moved to a 4 point scale. As you look at the scale (see below) there will be certain areas in which students are unable to “exceed” expectations (because they can either do the skill, or they cannot). In addition, many of the standards are “end of the year goals”, so students still have the second half of the year to show progress. Finally, it is important to note that students who are “meeting expectations” are exactly where we would expect them to be at this point in their educational journey. Here is the common 4 point scale that all grades will be using:
1 - Developing Expectations
2 - Approaching Expectations
3 - Meeting Expectations
4 - Exceeding Expectations
As I wrap up this week, I did want to draw your attention to the letter that went home this week in regard to some of the new changes that have been put into place by our local health department in response to COVID19. The letter is linked here: January 13 Update. If you have any questions about these changes, please do not hesitate to reach out to our main office.
Have a great weekend!!
Your Principal,
Mr. Vydareny
