This Weeks Focus
Happy New Year!
We had a fairly low-key week last week as we tried to settle back into the school groove. We talked a lot about the new year and discussed making school goals and personal goals. We also had some fun with some snowman lessons and activities. We did not do our normal schedules Daily 5 since we only had 3 days of school. So we didn’t do those rotations nor did we meet with small groups. However, we will get back to it this week since will be back to 5 days of school.
This week we will be reading the book Biggest Snowman Ever during mentor sentences and discussing adjectives.
In math, students will explain strategies used to solve addition and subtraction problems up to 20 using spoken words, objects, pictorial models, and number sentences. In science, we will be investigating rocks, soil, and water.
Don't forget students can work on Lexia at home. Students can login to Lexia through Clever. Contact your child's teacher if you need student's Clever login information.
We will be MAP testing next week. MAP testing is one form of data we use to measure growth. It is a test that pinpoints exactly what our students are ready to learn, whether it be below, on, or above grade-level. Each student learns at a different pace. The MAP test allows us to direct our teaching to exactly what your child needs. This assessment is used to help us drive instruction so it is very important that students show what they know! Please encourage your child to do their very best and use grit when taking the test!
Report cards were sent out digitally on Friday, January 7th.
