Cougar Connect Community Edition
September 26- October 7
Principal Arellano's Post
Greetings Cougar Families!
We had another great week with students!! This year we are focusing heavily on building math foundations. During our morning announcements, we are building skip counting fluency. As a school community, we have been working on our ability to skip count by 2. Ask your student to show off their mastery!
Fund Run is right around the corner. We will have our community assembly this Friday for our students to get them pumped up for our Fund Run. Please be on the lookout for Fund Run packets coming home this Friday! Every dollar raised goes directly to supporting our students. This year we are dedicating funds towards the purchase of technology and field trips for our students. Please consider supporting us in supporting our school community. Every dollar counts!
The link for online lunch payments is attached. Your child's student ID number will be on their profile page that you sign off on in the classroom when you meet the teacher. Cash or check can be accepted at the school.

As always, please reach out to your student's teacher or myself with questions or concerns. We hope that you have had an amazing week!
Habits of Success Focus
September 6- October 1
Growth Mindset
Teaching and focusing on a growth mindset helps our learners develop the belief that intelligence is not fixed and can be strengthened by taking risks, showing persistence, and working hard. Our learning communities place a central focus on building communities where it is safe to take risks through community circles and collaborative practices. We encourage learners to demonstrate persistence by understanding that mistakes are part of the process. Our learners encounter hard work every day!
Dinner Table Prompts:
We encourage you to discuss your student's day at school as a family. Below are some questions that you can ask your students to help generate conversation centered on growth mindset.
- What was something that you were not good at right away and had to practice?
- When you fail, do you give up or try again?
- What emotions do you feel when you are having a hard time or are challenged?
- Who can you ask for help when you are facing a challenge?
- What are 5 things you are really good at? Did you have to practice to get better at these things?
- What is something at home you would like to get better at? What is something at school you would like to get better at?

Staff Recognition
Mrs. Krieg & Ms. Jeromin - King Elementary
Mrs. Krieg and Ms. Jeromin work diligently to ensure our staff, students, and community is fully supported. Part of the reason that the Cougar Nation is so successful is because of the hard work they contribute to making our school the best place to be. We couldn't do the work we do with students without their dedication and support. Thank you for all the hard work you do day in and day out!
