Warrior News
A Weekly Newsletter for Warrior Families and Students
May 15, 2020
Hey Warrior Nation,
We have received many questions regarding the implications of the Supreme Court ruling on Wednesday that struck down the stay-at-home order. While restrictions on businesses and gatherings have been lifted for the time being, the ruling does not affect current school closures in the state. We continue to consult with the Waukesha Department of Health regarding how the ruling may affect other district programming and events in the future. We will keep you posted as we receive updated information.
These are challenging times for everyone for countless different reasons. However, it is in times like these that I continue to be inspired by our Warrior community and its’ response to adversity. These are times when our true character can shine.
Groups like our WarriorBots worked countless hours for months and months--fundraising, designing, building, and working to be prepared to compete in state and national competitions--only to have all of it canceled by this pandemic. Yet, like Warriors do, they bounced back. Rather than dwelling on what was lost, they focused their energies on how they could help. The team shifted its focus to designing and crafting ear saving devices that work with face masks to help out our front line responders. To date, they have created and donated over 800 of these devices to local police, fire, and health care providers. We should all be proud of our Warriors leading and serving the community around them.
The spirit of the Muskego Warriors is strong. It’s the countless number of students who have volunteered to serve as peer tutors to help fellow classmates who have struggled with the transition to virtual learning. It’s the students and families who continue to find ways to serve our community and classmates through food donations and providing child care. It’s the people who have created and shared positive and uplifting videos. It’s the people who take the time to make a call to a relative, a friend, or a classmate just to check on them and lift up their spirits. It’s the Warriors who continue to spread kindness through painted rocks, random sidewalk chalk art, and simple, kind emails.
It is all of these actions and more that remind me that we are not defined by the adversity, missed opportunities, and challenges we face. We are defined by how we respond to them. It is for this reason that I am once again incredibly proud to be a part of the Warrior community. It is indeed a great day to be a WARRIOR.
Warrior Nation, stay strong, stay positive, and continue to show the world what it means to be a Warrior. These are challenging times but we will get through them together. We are Muskego Strong and WE ARE WARRIORS.
Take care, stay healthy, and stay MUSKEGO STRONG,
Todd Irvine
