What is Wind?
Wind is the sideways movement of air. The air always moves from an area of high pressure to an area of low pressure.
Ind is caused by the differences in the atmosphere pressure. Air moves from the higher to lower air pressure area.
differences in air pressure are caused by differences in how places are heated by the sun. Warm air has less pressure than cooler air.
The name of a wind tells you where the wind is coming from. For example, a north wind blows from the north and blows to the south.Wind speed is measured with an anemometer.
There are different types of local winds, Sea breeze and Land Breeze. A Sea breeze is a local wind that blows from an ocean to land and usually occurs during the day. A Land breeze is a local wind that blows from land over a body of water and occurs during the night.
A global wind is a wind that blows steadily over long distances. A global wind blows in the same direction every time. There are three major global winds, the trade winds(located west), prevailing westerlies(located east), and polar easterlies(located west)
