Special Town Hall Series: SEL in Early Childhood
Beginning early in life, social emotional learning (SEL) is highly important for helping preschool children to understand and manage their emotions, feel and show empathy for others, establish healthy relationships, set positive goals, and make responsible decisions. Effective SEL programming, from preschool through college, will promote the successful development of social and emotional skills that will lead to future healthy interpersonal relationships, association with nonviolent peers, and improved academic achievement.
As our district continues to build our SEL skills, we are pleased to announce that our SEL partner, Mindful Practices, will be hosting two special Town Halls on SEL in Early Childhood (Pre-K) classrooms. Learn from SEL and Early Childhood Specialists about a continuum of learning and support activities designed to prepare educators to empower your youngest students and their families to take part in self-awareness activities, regulation practices, and engaging and fun SEL programming including movement, song, dance, and community-building opportunities.
The two sessions will take place the following dates and times:
Friday, 4/9: 2:30-3:30pm CT
To join, register at: https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/2893014517961147151. You will receive a link to join the webinar the day it is airing live.

EDUCATOR SELF-CARE/ WELLBEING TIP
Make an Appointment
“Self-care means giving the world the best of you instead of what is left of you.” -Katie Reed
Trips to the dentist, routine doctor's visits, and annual eye exams are important. They provide major support for our quality of life and our long term health and well-being. We are responsible for our own health; having a trusted and trained medical professional on your team is a BIG plus. They are able to advocate for you, they can level with you, and they can offer counsel during times when clarity is needed. Don’t wait for something to break before taking the time to make sure the whole system is operating properly.
With gratitude,
Michael and the Mindful Practices Team
