District will determine if schools will reopen or if the closure will be extended
School Closed Through April 3
Allen ISD schools will remain closed through Friday, April 3 in an effort to support the community, region and nation’s need to slow the spread of COVID-19. This action follows advice from local, state and national health authorities. Allen ISD will use the week of March 30-April 3 to reassess whether there is a need to extend the suspension of normal district operations beyond April 3.
Allen ISD Free Breakfast and Lunches for All Students
The school district will provide curbside breakfast and lunch meals for all Allen ISD students through April 3rd.
Curbside meal sites at Boyd Elementary School (800 Jupiter Road) and Rountree Elementary School (800 East Main Street) will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. for breakfast pick-up and from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for lunch pick-up.
Families need to remain in their cars to pick-up meals curbside at the front of designated campus sites. Students need to be present to receive the meal. One meal will be provided for each Allen ISD student, including middle and high school students.

It will be helpful if everyone has their cart tags. Please review an example of the form that you will complete while waiting in line. It will make the process faster if you have the form already completed. Link to form
When you get home with your student resources, please keep everything together and refrain from allowing your child to start anything until you hear from your classroom teachers. You should be receiving an email with full details by Sunday.

Request for Technology Devices – DUE DATE Sunday, March 22
We understand that not every student will have access to the internet and a technology device, such as a computer, laptop, chromebook, ipad, tablet, or smartphone at home. If your family needs assistance accessing technology for your child, please click on the following link.Boyd: Student Device Request Form You will receive follow-up information regarding your request and procedures for pick-up at a later date.
You only need to complete one form for Boyd and indicate the number of BOYD students in the household. If you have students at other schools, you will need to complete their forms and pick-up devices at those schools.
On Monday, March 23, Mrs. Coffman will send you an email confirming that we have your request for a device when you are able to pick-it up. If you do not receive an email by Monday, March 23 by 4:00 PM from Mrs. Coffman confirming that your form was received, please email her at judith.coffman@allenisd.org.
If you requested a device, you will receive one Chromebook laptop for households with 1-2 Boyd students and two laptops for households with 3+ Boyd students.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION TO KNOW BEFORE YOU COME TO PICK UP TECHNOLOGY DEVICES:
Your student needs to log on to the Portal portal.allenisd.org (by phone or cell device) prior to picking up a device.
Students will use their ID number and their password to log-in to the portal. If they are not able to log-in, please contact their teacher. We will need to have their password reset. Please make sure that they know their ID and password prior to coming to pick up their device.
Before you drive away, the student will be required to log in from your vehicles before leaving with the device. This is necessary to make sure it connects to our wifi and will work once you get home.

At-Home Learning Plan
Allen ISD is committed to ensuring continued learning for our students during this extended period of school closures. To support this continuation of learning, elementary parents/guardians should use the “Guidance for Elementary Families on Instructional Delivery of At-Home Learning” which provides initial guidance on how to support your student in his/her learning while at home. Each week, your child’s teacher will e-mail parents the “At-Home Learning Plan” no later than 8:00 a.m. each Monday morning.
Social emotional health is an important part of successful at-home learning. This short video provides guidance on ways to help keep our students and families on track and mentally healthy. Watch the Video Here
On Monday, March 23 you will receive communication from homeroom teachers with the At Home Learning Plans for the week of March 23-27.

Field trips are cancelled through April 3rd
Field trips are cancelled through April 3rd, and we are working through the details and processes to look into refunds when we return to school.
Several things will have to be considered:
- Some places may not refund what we have already paid
- Several companies are shut down right now and cannot issue refunds to us, therefore we cannot issue refunds to the kids
- Some have non-refundable deposits and so we need to figure out how much we have to refund them
- And many, many, more…
Thank you for your patience and working with us on the details of day-to-day operations of a school system.
