From The Principal
Welcome back! We hope you had a wonderful break. Teachers and staff are so ready for the return of our scholars! We have spent the last couple of days learning about and discussing ways we can put systems in place that insure better outcomes for every scholar! We commit to work everyday in the pursuit of our mission, to PREPARE, ENGAGE and EMPOWER every scholar for a lifetime of learning and success. We are Sunflower! We are AVID!
As we prepare to come back to the building please take some time today to review some of our safety protocols ahead of our return. Pre-correcting students so they know what is expected is one of our strategies in our Ci3T plan and helps us in preventing unexpected behaviors or issues. I have also attached the district video below that you could watch and an infographic.
A few reminders about arrival/dismissal and attendance:
-Doors open at 8:30, students are tardy after 8:45
-Please drop off in the circle drive only to insure efficiency and safety
-Make sure your students enter and exit from the passenger side and please stay in your vehicle, staff will help with doors if needed
-Make sure students have their masks on as they exit the vehicle
-Make sure you have your school issued car tag with number visible on it at dismissal, otherwise you will be asked to pull up and provide ID, this will delay the dismissal of your student(s)
-Please avoid being on your cell phone during arrival and dismissal for safety purposes
-Students working from home must log into their live remote sessions and participate in order to be counted present for the day
-If your child is going to be absent due to illness or appointment please call Miss Zee in the office so she can get that excused for you
-After 10 absences (excused or unexcused) you will be required to bring a doctor's note for an excusal
We appreciate your partnership in a safe and efficient arrival and dismissal process and your commitment to setting your child up for success in school!
We look forward to seeing our A-day scholars tomorrow. See you at 8:35 for morning community.
As always it is an honor to serve as the Principal of Sunflower Elementary.

Picture retakes will be taken next week, Monday and Tuesday for children who indicated retakes, absent students and new students. Distance learners can get their picture taken on these days between 9 and 10:30. If parents want retakes taken for their children they will need to let the office know by emailing nlett@usd497.org. Any questions regarding your students pictures please reach out to Brenda at bjohnson@inter-state.com.Student Arrival/Drop Off
To make sure we are following arrival procedures, students are not to be dropped off at the playground. All students must be dropped off using the circle drive.
