Fourth Grade Parkside Elementary
January 11th - 15th, 2016
In literacy students are continuing to work on informational/nonfiction text. Make sure you are reading non-fiction text daily. Students will soon begin a project that integrates Social Studies- they will be researching famous people from North Carolina. More information including a rubric and due dates will be sent home so we may get started soon!
This week in math we are learning how to conquer multiplication, division, and multi-step word problems. We are reviewing factors, multiples, prime, and composite numbers. Your child will have a test on these topics on Wednesday. Please continue to review basic multiplication facts with your child. Fluency of these facts is one of the keys to success in 4th grade math. Looking ahead, we will begin our geometry unit. We will be learning how to find the perimeter and area of regular and irregular figures.
Field Trip Information and More!!
We have two exciting field trips planned for our fourth graders! Our first trip will be in February to the Vulcan Rock Quarry in Concord- the cost of this trip will be $6 per student and is due by the end of February.
Our trip in April will be to the NC Mountains. The cost will be approximately $80.00 per student and payment plans will begin this week.
Permission slips will be sent home soon for both trips. Look to make payments for the trips via the Online Payment system located on the school's website. http://schools.cms.k12.nc.us/parksideES/Pages/Default.aspx
