November 2018

Messages from Principal Menard

I hope everyone had a great and relaxing Fall Break. Can you believe we have been in school for a whole quarter?! I would like to thank our entire community for your support this year. I am a believer in the importance of the partnership between the community and the school. We are lucky to serve you and your students. I hope everyone enjoyed our Fall Festival. Our school was packed with community and it was so much fun to see all of the great costumes! A very special thank you to our PIE group, our parent volunteers, and staff, that help make this such a wonderful event. As we get closer to the holiday season, we have several other events we are working on such as our annual Turkey Trot and the Holiday Shop. We hope to see everyone at these events!

November brings a month of gratitude and I sure do have A LOT to be thankful for! This month we will celebrate our classified staff! We are forever grateful for our front office staff, Para educators, custodians, cafeteria staff, and bus drivers. Without these wonderful members of our team, we would never be able to shine as brightly as we do at Alsup! Please take a moment to thank our classified staff for their dedication to our students and community!

Thank you all for your help in making adjustments to our morning entry! Things have been running smoothly with our students entering school and quickly getting through the breakfast line! Our next big adjustment we plan to implement the week following Thanksgiving break is our traffic issues at morning entry. For the safety of our students, we are planning a major readjustment to how we route traffic through the parent parking lot and down Birch St. Please be on the look out for more information regarding this topic!

Finally, I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving Day! Take the opportunity to spend time with family and friends, make memories, and possibly start a new tradition in honor of giving thanks! It only takes one small act of kindness to change a person's day!

I am so thankful for you all!

November Turkey Trot Fun Run!

The Alsup Turkey Trot is back! Get your running shoes and warm running clothes ready, November 20th all students will participate in our traditional fun run with their class! Please join us and help encourage your child along the course!

New morning drop off traffic pattern!

Please be aware! We will soon be introducing a new traffic drop-off routine for the morning. We are currently in the process of painting the sidewalks in the front of the school off of Birch St. This area will be for a quick student drop off, we like to call it the "Kiss and Go Line." The small parking lot will be for parent parking only. We are also asking that no left turns are made out of the parking lot in order to make our drop off safe and quick. Please stand by for more detailed information to be sent by the end of the month.

Attendance Requests!

As we are all aware, school attendance is very critical. Our school-wide attendance goal is 95% for the entire year. When your child is not in school, he or she is missing important learning and we love to see our students everyday! If your child is out for a doctor's appointment, please be sure to submit a doctor's note in order for your child's absence to be excused.
