Happy Valentine's Day
Holy Child Catholic School
Only At Holy Child....
Do you see that big smile on Mrs. Curtin's face?
She is thrilled because Mr. Broadhead made a portable ball barrier to keep the balls from going down the hill to Molly's Bar.
Thank you Mr. Broadhead!
Dear Families,
I hope this letter finds you well and that you are staying warm.
I know that you have many questions about the progress of the new building. We have passed the final inspections from PNM for the installation of the meter. We are now working with their engineer to schedule electricity. We have been told it should be done in one to two weeks. After that, we move on to numerous inspections like those associated with the fire alarm, the waste water system and various electrical inspections. After we have electricity, we will complete the septic system. Furthermore, the earth work for the parking lot has been completed. As soon as the weather permits, we can proceed with installing the rip-rap. After that, we can move forward with the gravel.
Even though we are faced with these challenging situations, the joy of teaching and learning is always with us. I am so grateful to our teachers and our students who share inspiring stories with me all the time. For instance, a Preschool parent approached me and shared something I couldn't keep to myself. One day after one of our Eucharistic Adoration sessions, her son started making up a "nonsense song" as he always does. But this time, she noticed he did it to the tune of Tantum Ergo Sacramentum.. She told me, "What a special school and parish to give this to a Preschooler!" Along those lines, one of my High School Homeschooling Students recently pulled me aside and said, "Mrs. Martinez, now that I know classical education, I won't settle for anything less!" It is with such sentiments we are daily inspired.
Thank you for choosing Holy Child. I wish you a wonderful Valentine's Day!
Faithfully Yours,
Mrs. Martinez
Thoughts on Our Art Program and Plans For The New Building
Mrs. D and I have been having wonderful conversations about the Art Masterpieces we want for the new building. I have also been approached by an annonymous donor so the ball is rolling! The right side of the building will contain Sacred Art, while the left side will represent the various historical eras in our curriculum. If you feel passionate about the subject, please let me know and we can share ideas. Our goal is to get everyone excited about our long-term vision for making the new building filled with pieces that will endure and inspire students for generations.

Latin Exam
For the first time ever, our Upper School is going to take the Exploratory Latin Exam.
We are scheduled to take it on Thursday, March 5.
This exam is sponsored by the American Classical League.
Thank you Mrs. Hamrick for preparing our students so well!
Thank you!
What would we do without our volunteers and benefactors? We do not take them for granted-that's for sure!
We received a generous check from an annonymous donor to help us with fuel costs when we transport the gravel. We also received a set of new Bibles for our Upper School Students. These are not just any Bibles, but the Great Adventure Series from Ascension Press. These Bibles are costly, but are worth every penny as they help students delve into salvation history at a deeper level. They will also give students the chance to enjoy the RSV, Second Catholic Edition, which we currently do not have at our school. This will definitely be an exciting addition when we move into the new school building.

Every Wednesday after school Dr. Pat McDaniel coaches our team. We are so grateful. The Annual Math Counts competition this year will be on Saturday, February 22 at UNM.
We wish them luck!
