Learning about ADVOCATING for Self and Others with our Whole Community Book Focus
For the first semester, we will focus on learning about what it means to speak up and advocate for others. Your child will be brining home the book, Speak Up!, written by Miranda Paul. There will be at home activities included with the book for students to complete this choice board activity. Please take a photo of your family enjoying this book together, send it to your child's teacher, and we will place it on our special bulletin board at Grant.
Family discussion starters for home:
What would you do if…
Someone said your name wrong?
You heard someone spreading a rumor?
You made a mistake.
Can you think of…
Any rules that aren’t fair?
Something cool you would want to share about?
Other books/read alouds to explore on this topic with your child:
Say Something by Peter Reynolds
Words and Your Heart by Kate Jane Neal
Lala's Words by Gracey Zhang
